I really like the look of plain tops, the Gibson VOS 1958 and 60's on ebay cook my chicken. My '05 LS150 sounds and plays great, but the look of the Heritage Cherry and unusual figuring leave me cold. I know, sound and feel, but I do like a guitar to please me eye.
Anyone got, or seen, a high end (250 and higher) with a tobacco/lemon plain top?

I thought that the current LS250 and LS150 were identical, except for the LS250s flame top and black beauty caps. Why not just get a current LS150? |

Well, having had a look at the ones Joe linked to, I guess there's high-end and then there is high-end. Honduran Mahogany, Jacaranda fretboard, Rolphs, Bumblebees...nice! Is that stuff important to you? Three times the price important? |

Yeah, those are really nice looking. I guess I am lusting after higher...the best woods and that. Being as I wil struggle to try several and pick my own, I want to leave as little to chance...and cash seems to do that. Am I being stupid? |

Great.... although the new nitro gets a bit sticky after playing it awhile. Nice weight at 8.25 lbs, substantial neck but not too clubby. The stock pickups are great - not too boomy on the neck or shrill on the bridge. Classic Les Paul tone.
It's the closest thing to a Gibson R8 I've ever played. |
