I really like the look of plain tops, the Gibson VOS 1958 and 60's on ebay cook my chicken. My '05 LS150 sounds and plays great, but the look of the Heritage Cherry and unusual figuring leave me cold. I know, sound and feel, but I do like a guitar to please me eye.
Anyone got, or seen, a high end (250 and higher) with a tobacco/lemon plain top?
Flames need not apply

:D those PACIFIX limited LS series are it i think. leave the URLs for you so consider. KEY Sinjyuku store is the one who sells them a lot. so check em out!

LS6 is the les paul special TV yellow.
LS7 is the goldtop w/p90s.
ES1 is the dot marker 335 replica.

:D "pacifix" in yokohama, japan.

I thought that the current LS250 and LS150 were identical, except for the LS250s flame top and black beauty caps. Why not just get a current LS150?

Yup, that's what I'm talking about...I have no idea how many pounds 368,000 yen is. And I wish I spoke Japanese...theres a lovely 'wood comparison' on the musicland page you posted there Sushi...

I have an LS150...see the post 'Is this an LS150' from 30/9/9. That's mine, playing it now, its lovely, but the colour...shallow as they come (me, not the guitar  )

Yeah, but that's an old LS150. The current LS150 is a plain-top, high-end guitar:

Here's one you can buy:

Well, having had a look at the ones Joe linked to, I guess there's high-end and then there is high-end. Honduran Mahogany, Jacaranda fretboard, Rolphs, Bumblebees...nice! Is that stuff important to you? Three times the price important?

Yeah, those are really nice looking. I guess I am lusting after higher...the best woods and that. Being as I wil struggle to try several and pick my own, I want to leave as little to chance...and cash seems to do that. Am I being stupid?

I just bought a new LS150 VF plaintop from Japan. Here's what it looks like:

Great.... although the new nitro gets a bit sticky after playing it awhile. Nice weight at 8.25 lbs, substantial neck but not too clubby. The stock pickups are great - not too boomy on the neck or shrill on the bridge. Classic Les Paul tone.

It's the closest thing to a Gibson R8 I've ever played.

This lemon drop LS1 just sold a couple weeks ago for 248,000 yen. It is the actual LD guitar
pictured in the Tokai materials, as well as on the pacifix site that Joe's link goes to.

I came soooooo close to pulling the trigger on it a couple times. One thing that turned me off
about it was the little "turnarounds" in the inlay carvings. But oh what a top!
