Nope... no mandolins. Looks like a nice builder. Mandolins are pretty popular with country/western bands. Robert Earl Keen, Joe Ely, etc have had mandolins in their various band lineups - as well as fiddles (violins).
However, I do have Eastwood guitars:

Have you ever played in a country band Marcus?
When I first moved into a rural lifetime from the big city the only gig i could get was backing a local Country music celeb.
He had a banjo player and a fiddle player and we were doing modern country stuff as well as some Bluegrass.
It was a real eye opener for a blues/rock based player I can tell you.
We did ok though...played to 3000 people over a 3 night run. |

Over the past five years, I've owned a few Eastman high-end mandolins and a couple of archtops. The John Pisano archtop was without question one of the finest guitars I've ever owned.
I've been downsizing and sold them but only because I have had other brands for a lot longer.
I would highly recommend their upper-end models. _________________

Marcus, what Eastwoods do you own? I've been um'ing and ah'ing over a Tuxedo (black/white, naturally!) for ages now... |

Nope.... never did a country thing. Totally different animal than what I'm used to playing - as you'd mentioned.
I'd really have to work on my fingerpicking technique with my Tele twang tone. Can't fake it in Texas.
I've sat in on a couple of tunes in an informal setting with Robert Earl Keen, Jr..... (my wife is good friends with him) and I always end up bluesing up a nice country tune. He's a good guy - damn good storytelling songwriter in the vein of Jerry Jeff Walker. Good singer and picker too.

How are the Tuxedos, Marcus? Four questions in particular if you've got time:
1) Are they too small? I'm a fairly big guy (http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh320/iainhblack/DSC03476.jpg rear right with the "guitar hero" t-shirt) and playing certain guitars just looks slapstick (my duosonic drawing particularly funny looks while on stage!).
2) How's the balance?
3) How's the build?
4) How's the feel/how do they play?
The sound is fantastic, so I'm not worried about that!
Thanks Marcus! |

Thanks Marcus. Mainly based on this I just got a black and white Airline Tuxedo.
After a few minor tweeks it's an absolute joy to play. Great for picking and has a big range of sounds from Jazz to fairly snarly! In answer to Alan's question the build is very good, korean built and pretty faultless for the money. The action is really low and the neck very comfortable.

A few clips on the Eastwood Airline Tuxedo for anyone interested.
They're all recorded straight mic'ed off the amp with no effects just a touch of reverb. All pretty much on the same settings on both guitar and amp just changing pickups and style.
