I suppose the question is are these people making the stories up themselves or are they being mislead by some unscrupulous dealer?

There does seem to be a lot of 'rare' guitars out there at the moment
 
Price looks good right now. Bet the reserve is something like ?500. :roll:

Could this be a new US compliant line? Control positions and headstock as per usual but with a better cutaway?
 
I didn't see him mention it was made in Japan. It looks like one of the MIK models offered by Mike's Music. I recall those ones had writing between the tuners, like in the picture.
 
That writing is the S/N and the "Made in Korea" designation. Still, not bad.
