115's are not common in any colour!!

OK, but I still don't understand why 3TS is less common than 2TS. Unless there were more 57s than 62s?

i dont understand why either, but in my experience they just are..

thats the only 3TS 115 I have seen, whereas I have seen 6 or more 2TS 115's

I dont know if thats a reflection of the production, or just the way that the ones that have come up for sale...

I dont know whether Fender JV stuck to the original fender colouring either... I see no reason why they should have, heh but no reason why they shouldn't have either...

so much not known...

OK, well were the 2TS ones all 57s - maple board?

In the few years I've been checking digimart, I have seen only a hand full of 115s, rose' & maple boards

underneath had a 115-62 about three/four months ago that was a dead ringer for the 3-color in the original link

I was never a big fan of the JVs because of the hype & the associated higher than (IMO) warranted prices

sure, they are the very first incarnation of Japanese Fenders but there are later examples of MIJ Fenders that are just as good, yet without the hyped up prices

I'm not knocking the JVs but I don't collect guitars to collect them but rather to play them

I don't understand why Fender Japan just didn't go ahead & do the very last bit of detail 'under the hood' and make the 115s completely & 100% clothe covered wiring, like these two early 90's examples.

These have just as much quality as the JVs but without the jacked up prices :D

i disagree rich, the early JV's sound better to me than any later fenders, and I play them too..

but its each to their own i suppose, after all you love burnys... :D :D

yep, I likes me some Burny RLGs; played a couple this morning (and a couple Bacchus BLS models too) but the LS-320 is waaaaaaaaay back in the back of the Lester pile so, it will be a while before I get to it

I'm going thru the Strat pile as I type, with a white Bacchus BST-64V in hand :D

On a different note; what do you think a nice pair of Dry Z pups would sound like in the LS-320 8)

Well, I have a 62-115 with serialnumber JV001XX
It is dated April 19 (if I remember correctly).
Might be for sale since I am currently looking for an 82 Fullerton 62 Strat.

Comparing a 62-115 to an 61 Strat is like looking at yourself in a mirror.
To compare with a CS or AV is like staring into a brick wall :D

65, 85 or 115 are superior to any American Fender built after 1967.

So why do you want to sell yours to get an 82 Fullerton?

Fullertons age nicer.
I don't play Strats so I want something that looks good on the wall.

Just about 20 Guitars between ours. Kind of cool now, 27 years later.

14 is a very early date though. I had a 52-95 Tele a couple of years ago that was dated 16/04 but sold it and bought an Jazzmaster for the money.

So, you got GL?s (fuzzy_gil) black ST62-115. I never did ask him where it went.

One of my JVTL?s is 01396, neck date 4/17/82?

Now how?d that happen?

'Guess they hadn't started making the Tele JV bridgeplates yet.

For some reason, the earliest, earliest JV Teles had the serial on the back of the neck unlike the other?s that were on the bridgeplate?

SG Std, SG Special, SG Special and SG Junior.
If there was another SG I would play that one too :D

What a tragic waste of a Fullerton Strat just to hang it on the wall! I play all my guitars.

One thing I don't understand though. If you "don't play Strats", how can you say which of the RIs is closest to a "real" 60s Strat? As far as I'm concerned, the closest I've ever come to a real 60s Strat (& I have played a small number, even if only briefly) is a Fullerton. They sound, feel & even age like a real 60s Strat, just 20 years younger. An ST80 is an excellent Strat, but it's a little different in feel.

I rarely play SGs, so I wouldn't attempt to comment on which of the RIs comes closet to the original - I just wouldn't be able to tell.
