Is there any other reason........bigger is better......I see, it all makes sense now. You basically want a huge loud amp because you can

yes i am leaning that way...JohnA wrote:The einstein 50 looks pretty perfect to me, the herbert is just far too big (and expensive) I thin sometimes bigger is not better you need to be able to crank an amp up to get the best out of it, and cranking a 150 watter will take some doing, but I'm sure you'll try
Which ones do you have? Some low wattage amps are not meant to sound low. Some of them are boutique amps that are designed to sound good at low levels and some of them can sound good at higher levels too. The Cornford Alrlequin is only 6watt or something like that and it screams like hell but it still sounds good at studio levels.villager wrote:i have some, but I don't use them so much, I have a drummer..heh..
This is probably a wrong assumption because there is not a straight relationship between watts and decibels unless you are talking about the same amp.villager wrote:I would say 50w with a dedicated clean channel would be the best for me
Should you find any, please let me knowvillager wrote: I want a versatile amp with a good clean and a great gain voice
i haven't tried too many low wattage amps which were aimed at br00tz... the headroom and tone of 100 watters (or more!) seems to work well for the heavy stuff. I get a bit tired (on other forums) of hearing people (who don't play metal, rather unsurprisingly) saying people are mad to go with a high wattage amp even when they play metal... low wattage amps work great for blues and classic rock, not so much for heavier stuff...ganzua wrote:what do you think about low wattage amps?villager wrote:up to 20 people!!!
but its just for my studio...
i'm not convinced that's true, for modern metal, anyway. once you get over a certain volume, most of those modern high gain heads sound awesome, assuming you're after high gain. if you're not, why are you buying a high gain amp?JohnA wrote:The einstein 50 looks pretty perfect to me, the herbert is just far too big (and expensive) I thin sometimes bigger is not better you need to be able to crank an amp up to get the best out of it, and cranking a 150 watter will take some doing, but I'm sure you'll try
What do you think of this thing?villager wrote:yes i love high gain....but i need a good clean..
very nice, but I didn't much rate the clean channel...villager wrote:yes i love high gain....but i need a good clean.. thats why i am leaning towards the diezels...
what was the VH-4 like?
