The growth ring structure in the body is very tightly spaced, and from my experience this usually means heavier lumber.
I wouldn't be surprised to see this example top out at 8 lb., or slightly higher
 
Thanks. I also had an 81 ES-100 and thought the neck on that was slim so nice comparison. Cheers
