Hi guys,

I recently bought a very used 1984 Mint Collection Greco Les Paul.
It does not have any fret edge binding and comes with Screamin pups.
It has veneer top so I'm guessing either EG59-45 or EG59-50.
It plays and sounds great but the upper frets are quite worn.

I'm in a dilemma.
1) Will replacing the frets really de-value the guitar?
2) If I replace the frets, which type of frets would be most accurate? (closest to the original)

Any info/advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

No, its not a collectible guitar.
Just go, make it playable and you might just increase the value a few bucks!

If it has veneer flame top and Screamin pickups it is an EG-65, and if it needs a refret you should do it, it would probably increase value in fact.

I acquired a near mint 1982 Greco EG57-50 a few years ago. Great guitar but had very small *vintage* style frets. It didn't need refretting per se but was difficult to play compared to my other Grecos. I had it refretted with Dunlop 6100's and never looked back. This Greco practically plays itself now.

I agree, put the frets on it that you like to play and commence rocking!
