Anyone check these guys out yet? The TOD150 looks like a very nice guitar, solid spruce top, solid maple back and sides...under a grand. Any opinions or anecdotes?

Here's the scoop from their website...
Since 1970, we, a joint corporation with a Japan company, have been in guitar

manufacturing business for 36 years. We have been specialized in

manufacturing guitars, and have produced and exported 3 million pieces of

guitars so far.

In the early stage of business, we used to produce 30,000 pieces of guitars per

month to meet buyer's order. We have set high standard of quality guitars to be

effectively and have been exported guitars such as Gretsch of Fender, Epiphone of Gibson, Alvarez of

St. Louis Music and some brands of Japan and Europe as OEM products.

We also sell some guitars of peerless brand in the domestic market.

The product quality is our top priority. From 2000, we have been producing 2,000 pieces of guitars per

month to ensure the enhanced quality of guitars and also limiting the daily production capacity to 80

pieces and to 2,000 pieces per month for the quality assurance.

We will do our best to produce the improved quality in the future.

Best Regards,

Ahhhhh...Engrish at it's best :p

I've had some e-mail discussions with them and some of their models are quite tempting. They've made instruments for Gretsch, amongst others, although I'd venture that the Peerless Gretsch-like models are closer to the high-end Gretsches in spirit than the budget 'real' thing. They will sell direct, just so you know!
