Hello,

Since a few years I have already a great ST80 with maple neck that I love. I also have a ST80 RW neck but it deviates a bit from how a usual 80 would look like imo.

- Body is stamped ST80 and GS in neck pickup route
- No neck plate serial number
- pickups are E stamped
- Skunk stripe RW veneer neck with allen key trussrod
- Neck has printed stamp '8' on the heel
- cant see stamp '80' after the last fret on the boafd
- Back of neck at heel there is a serial number printed

Could this be a real ST80?

Thanks!

Shouldn't it have a '80' stamp in the fretboard?

How about the 7 digit serial number at the back of the neck instead of the neckplate?

No stamp on fretboard, 7 digit (first digit '8' stands for 1978) serial number at back of heel, small neckplate (from looking at the photo? OP?), all is normal for an early 1978 Springy production model.

Hi guys,

with the serial number, they were stamped like this until SN 8002200.
It was not till after SN 8003100, that fingerboard impressions and neck plate stamps were used.
This, to me, looks legit - very early 1978 ST80
