Very, very nice Emiel. This one oozes class!Emiel wrote:Phantom, that is an absolutely gorgeous guitar. I'm very glad to hear you find your #1 axe. Now we just need a video/audio comparison between your Tokai and your mate's Gibbo![]()
I recently acquired Alan's wonderful 1980 Reborn Old LS-80... it's been my #1 since. absolutely love it! Have to agree with Mikey though, I dig the bass pickup more than the bridge pickup...
(it has far more visible grain than you'll see in these pictures)
My # 1

Thanks for the kind words! I'm still very pleased I went for the 'old guitar' route. Ps nothing's special about my LS-80 Mikey, it is all original apart from new CTS pots and Faber hardware. I might look into some PAF style pickups soon or later though!
Phantom, you need to use the IMG button when entering your message. Place IMG before and /IMG behind your link and your pictures will show up.
Jacco, that Les Paul (a Greco?) is one of the nicest looking Les Paul's I've seen.. it has taken over the place of the white Custom?

you lucky bugger - some of us have only got one!!jacco wrote:My LPs are all in a stand and I just pick the one that matches my mood best at that moment. They're like children, they all get equal love. So I thought. I find myself picking up this one most lately.
I'm guessing from the shape of the horn on this stunner that it's not a Tokai but a Greco???????

It's a late 1980 Greco EGF1800, S/N 0 8123.
I've bought it in original condition incl. OHSC but changed the zinc alloy TP and bridge to further not named german brand hardware
It has a 1P back which is certainly not the norm for EGF1800s, weighs 4.25 kg. Further specs:
- Dry Zs with S/N 201121
- nut width 44.14mm
- neck thickness at 1st fret 23.83mm
- neck thickness at 11th fret 25.81 mm

Jacco your killing me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats the type of flame I love, very subtle. I'm not a huge fan of the 120 and up I guess because of the veneer tops, just a preference. There werent really many 59 bursts that had crazy flame on them.
I love my LS80's, looking for the right Greco!!!Seems like you have it Jacco
JV, thanks for the comment, means alot coming from a heavyweight like yourself.
OMG Mikey-----------thank you for the forum posting lesson, your a champ!
Fella's would love to see more.
Jacco will we ever know what your #1 really is?

I think acoustically my #1 is the EGF1800, amplified though, it's this one:

Yep, it's my 1980 ish Nav. Been posted on here afew times but any excuse
Not absolutely sure of the year or model. It has no serial and was bought as junk with no no pups or electrics. After a bit of TLC and tokai mkII pickups it sounds absolutely great and it's like a nice pair of old shoes to play.
Of the guitars posted so far I like Jacco's 1980 Greco EGF1800 best to look at.
