I'd say it's original if i had to guess. Even so far as the shim.

Gotta love that shim!
I suppose there is the remote possibility that the guitar was re-finished early in its life, but I doubt it.

I have a 78 black springy st 60 with E pickups a BB stamped Sen body, narrow neckplate and a neck stamped 50 not 60 at final fret, with neck and body sharing identical mirror image paint imprints.This is in my view an all original guitar like yours, not a partscaster.

As I already mentioned I'm pretty sure for not to say certain its all original, and here it comes: with codes that are way off.
example of an all original Tokai with non matching codes. They're out there.
