Hi everyone, I hope some one can help me identify a guitar I just bought.
Its a Tokai Original Series Explorer with twin Zebra Humbuckers and a strat style trem. a picture of it can be seen at http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2384&item=2516511103&rd=1

The serial Number is 3031400.

Has anyone got any ideas on its construction and what type of Pickups its has or even when it was made. The dateing info on the registry does not seem to match, I think it is old as it has the reverse F for Tokai on the Headstock.
Many thanks guys.

Looks similar to the one in the middle of the back row here:

Its a fuzzy scan and my German isn't too good but it looks like it might be the EXD-70?

Although the one in the pic looks like it has a locking trem and yours has binding too.

Don't know the date of the catalog the pic is from but looking at the other pages the guitars look to be early 80s.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply I had seen this but like you say there are some significant differences, It is a shame the catalogue is so blurred. STill makes me think this could be either an older version or a cheaper version as there is no locking trem or nut.

Finally took it apart
It has a lable on the underside of both Pups "Tokai 57 PAF model" there are also some markinings in the Bridge Pup cavity "3=15BB=Y" and on the end of the neck it is marked "3=13BBH".
I spoke to the Tokai people today in the UK and they seemed supprised I had one of these, but still no one knows much about it.
I get the feeling by looking at other peoples posts this forum is really only for Love Rocks and Strats. Shame.
