are there any replacement or upgrade tuners avail for tokai goldstar (later headstock) without having to drill holes?

What year and model goldstar are you talking about, and why are you looking at replacing them?

Not sure about replacement or upgrade tuners, I'm just curious as to why. :D

an 85 goldstar

are they good tuners, the stock ones? they aren't the original gotoh vintage type

An 85 from which country? They varied according to the country they were exported to. That's why we ask everyone to add their location to their profile & post pics. Otherwise you might get incorrect advice.

also trying to figure out if this is a replacement nut

it seems tough to bend strings on the first string near the nut, and it looks a little off, anyone suggest a good direct replacement?

That wasn't what I meant.

That wouldn't be a 1985 Japanese Goldstar in the UK, for example. I assume you're in North America somewhere?
