There's a rather nice Goldstar for sale on the Music Radar forum which I'm really taken with.

However, I'm slightly put off by the logo on the headstock - it looks like a transfer - do they all look like this or am I being over cautious!

Cheers all.

Hello Bob,

There could be a few reasons for the logo looking the way it does:

  • It's genuine- Tokai logos often have a very obvious transfer edge.
It's a repro decal on a genuine Tokai- not uncommon since many removed or replaced the original logo back when MIJ guitars were someting to be ashamed of...
It's a repro decal on a guitar not a Tokai- other aspects of the guitar will expose this.
Right off the top of my head I'd say it's genuine, it has the typical tarnishing of the tuners and the decal looks professionally applied.

I won't take any responsibility for it though!

What do the tuners and saddles say?

It's probably fine, but seeing the rest of the guitar will answer that. I wouldn't base a buying decision just on the decal. For reference, here are two views of my blue one.

Thanks fellas - very helpful indeed.

Now I'm off to raid the kids piggy banks to see if I can afford it.....
