Pretty Rare FJ EXTRAD...

I purchased this guitar while living in Tokyo. Bought it new in 1989. It was featured in FJ's catalogs as long as the EXTRAD model was offered.

Very nice, these ExTrad's are superb guitars (I have the ST62 version).
It is been said that they were the product of a sort of Japanese (prior) equivalent of the Fender custom shop.

Does anyone know what EX TRAD stands for?

I assume TRAD is traditional.

Found it.

"The EXTRAD is an "extra-traditional model" that uses rare wood materials that surpass even the original vintage models and is equipped with original USA pickups. The lineup included '54, '57, and '62 Stratocasters (ST54-140, ST57-140, and ST62-140) and a '52 Telecaster (TL52-120)."

Often the necks are flamed or a special piece of maple. Looks like your neck may have some flame?
