Here is my early, 80s Navigator, replica of a '56 Les Paul Goldtop with P90s. The build quality is excellent, 2-piece centre seamed mahogany back, thick 1 piece mahogany top - it resonates superbly, as soon as you pick it up and play it 'unplugged' you 'know' its going to be good. It has the 'fret edge binding' found on the higher-end models and excellent stock P90s, the nickel hardware has aged nicely. Apart from the pickguard (Gibson), replaced tuners (gold grovers) and upgraded pots and caps (originals pots/caps included) I believe it to be original. The finish is nitro with lacquer 'checking' - it looks for all the world like an original '56 - it has the mojo for sure! The gold paint under the lacquer has 'crazed' and in some lights looks like gold leaf - I have no idea how this has occured - I have tried to show in one of the pix. It comes with an old 70s Gibson case. I will ship outside the UK but only fully insured at cost (no exceptions) or you can arrange yourself.
Some info I have 'gleened' from the web - but please rely on your own research:
Arguably the rarest and least known of the Japanese Replicas, Navigator are amongst the highest build quality guitars.
In the late 70s - early 80s Navigator was a small independent company, building guitars to order by hand, in association with the emerging ESP company and for others, they also sold direct. The involvement with Edwards/ESP was in its infancy, ESP were supplying some pickups to Navigator, Edwards/ESP eventually totally merged the company in around 1984, today, Edwards brands its highest models "Navigator", in Japan the name is synonymous with the highest quality, because of the reputation of these early, pre Edwards models. Dating these early models is difficult as many had no serial nos. or identifying markings. I have already posted the original pot codes here but nobody could help with the dating.

Good point - 4.3kg or 9.5lb. on my digital scales
(those Grovers don't help matters)

Not light but certainly not a 14 pounder. Most of my Les Pauls are around 9.25 to 9.5.... still comfortable to play with a wide strap.

Good luck on the sale.... mighty nice guitar.

Very unusual - to my eyes, anyway - P-90 p/up. It has the grommet on the back, but wiring comes out the side from under the baseplate. Strange.

Great looking, wonderful workmanship.. But, a two piece back? Then again, I'm looking at 1980 with 2010 eyes.

Best of luck with the sale. Great price! Someone is going to love it.
