I wondered when you get your much awaited guitar. I got the same case from Richtone and I think it's a lovely case for the money and of course a perfect fit.

My point is that some people get hung up on the 'incorrect' dimple, when really the headstock looks nothing like a Gibson with or without. I like the fact mine says Tokai, I bought a Tokai not a Gibson.

None have the correct Gibson logo either 8)

You might need to post some better pics up. Also you talked about the serial number but didn't post a picture of it :D To get rid of the crackling you need some electrical switch cleaner.

On the plus side, I was able to buy new glasses with the money I saved

I actually thought I'd bought a Gibson. It turned out I needed new glasses.

It's the same spec guitar. Tokai number their models based on the price in yen so an LC85 would be 85,000 YEN. The price goes up with inflation and thus the model numbers change periodically. That is the only difference.

My problem when I was looking around for a Les Paul style guitar is that the ones which still cost considerable sums ?400+ are generally not going to rock my world, even if it is just bedroom playing. It proved very tricky to buy a guitar in the sub ?500 range which didn't have one or two things...

It will be a medium tenon on the neck. It'll be a very thin quilt maple veneer. The manufacturing date is identified by the serial number. If it's starts with 08 then it's manufacture date is 2008 for example. The price will be uplifted each year by inflation and depending where you are...

Just out of interest, is there much difference between the Gotoh and the Keiyo MKII's?
