    Greco EG1000

You've got good eyes then. I would also lean towards Rosewood from that picture, but I don't think it's that clear. So they stopped doing the volute on the 1000/100 models? Cause my 81 has a volute. I know there is a lot of confusion but I still wouldn't trust the catalogs for accuracy...

    Greco EG1000

I don't doubt that's what the catalog's say, but it's also pretty common knowledge that not everything made was identical to the catalogs. For example they might say a model comes in only one finish but there will be examples of it in other finishes. So the EC 68 50's had maple tops? That...

    Greco EG1000

Are you sure about that? My Super Real December 81 Greco EG1000 (exact same finish as that one) has a maple top. Same truss rod cover and flower pot inlay. I can't tell from the picture on that one but Biker, does it have an ebony fret board? Looks like it to me. If it does, I'd say...

Arai ZZ series guitar - catalogues or good info ?

http://www.matsumoku.org/models/serial_no.html Looks like it's a 1983. Unfortunately the aria site doesn't have a catalog on file for that year and all the other ones simply state rosewood as the only option. I wouldn't really worry about it though. They were probably pumping out a ton of...

On ebay Tokai EGC58-100 Super Real 1982

I've got one of those! 81 super real EGC1000 geez...almost 3K US? That's crazy! Think I paid about 700 for mine.

    FGN branded guitars

Don't know a ton about them but from what i've read they are MIJ Fujigen guitars and are suppose to be excellent quality.

    SS500 (SG Special) owners?

I haven't really been following them for a while. But it seems to me you'll see them average out at about 1 or 2 every 3 to 6 months. It really depends though. There are stretches where there aren't any and then you'll see like 4 of them in a few weeks. I can't help you with shipping and...

    SS500 (SG Special) owners?

Yeah here it is... They come up every so often on yahoo japan auctions. Mostly the mint collection....obviously cause they were made for many more years.....but even the super reals come up now and again. And with the SS500 I don't think it really matters with "super real" vs mint...

    SS500 (SG Special) owners?

Yeah I've got a 1980 super real SS500. Nearly positive it's poly. Surprisingly one of the nicest poly finishes I've ever held. Very thin. Growls like crazy. Love it. the neck is pretty nice. It's not the super wide SG type neck but it is a bit wider and thinner than a "normal" Les...

    Japan Purchase Road Block

I bet rinkya would do it......probably just have to contact them directly.

New (to me) Seymour Duncan DS-100

Swamp ash was pretty common on the Traditionals. I've seen a lot of them over the years on yahoo auctions japan. Nice score. Even the traditions have specs that rival fender custom shop guitars.

    WTB: MIJ SG Special Guitar...

there is a greco that's been on yahoo auctions for a while now... https://www.rinkya.com/en/auction-x330495348 and another one on digimart http://www.digimart.net/cat01/shop70/DS02322739/

    Is this Greco EGC 800?

I was going to say the super real truss rod cover on an 84 seems weird. My late 81 flower pot has one but technically that is a super real.

    Orville or CSL Ibanez?

Personally I'd get the Orville....never heard of the other one. And the orville is not Korean, it's MIJ. Also not a fan of 3 PU les pauls. Having said that, that seems really expensive for an orville. I see standard orvilles on Rinkya (yahoo japan) for like half that. Even with tax...

    GIBSON USA VS ORVILLE JAPAN

yeah it's a good clip. The Gibson is a little nicer in my opinion. But not much. A little "rounder" sounding. Considering that's the low end Orville, I'd say it shows pretty clearly that the MIJ pickups are very nice. Put some Greco pickups in either of those and they'd BOTH sound...

Fullerplast, DuPont paint and other flammable substances

you posted it like it was yours...now you're back pedaling. How come you didn't say it was copied from somewhere else? Seems like you were the one believing the post..hence why you posted it as your own.. and you were the one with a "hair across...blah blah blah..." whatever that means....lol...

Fair enough. Thanks for clearing more of that up.

Fullerplast, DuPont paint and other flammable substances

Fact: 60's fenders are not the one's people rave about in terms of finish and "nitro". The early 50's one's are. And those ones were completely poly free full nitro guitars. Just the way the top end MIJ guitars that copy them, are. So yeah....your long winded post really doesn't mean a...

New (to me) Seymour Duncan DS-100

So then what does that mean about my DS250....because it's an earlier one regarding the pickups? So they were essentially "beefed up" SSL 1's? But they didn't call them that? Where did you get that information that 'Beefed up' stands for 'SSL-1 Power Boost'. ? As for the finish on that...
