Anyone knows my Love Rock-a Japanese Tokai, Korean or fake?

I can't see how it could be an LS90Q with a bridge from a Korean Tokai. There are no Japanese Tokai's with that type of bridge so it would have to have been a replacement and why would you do that?

Anyone knows my Love Rock-a Japanese Tokai, Korean or fake?

I think you may be right as I think what looks like the screw nearest the nut is just a reflection. Looks like it's probably Korean then. Still a nice guitar though. Wonder what pickups will be in it?

Anyone knows my Love Rock-a Japanese Tokai, Korean or fake?

Hello, just stumbled onto the topic. The quilt top looks good but from the pics it looks like the bridge is the one normally fitted to Korean Tokais. On the Japanese Tokai's the bridge posts screw directly into the wood but yours has metal inserts. The truss rod 2 screws is a bit of a head...

    MIJ Love Rock

Well, I got the new Catswhiskers pickups and I've posted a review on Harmony Central. I'm a very happy man! Exactly the sound I was looking for and as I bought them secondhand without hearing them it was a stroke of luck. They read 7.2k at the neck and 13.5k at the bridge and it's a great...

Cheers John, I'll have a look. Might give me some info.

    MIJ Love Rock

I actually got the pair secondhand off an Ebayer who said he didn't them anymore for a project guitar. Nickel covered Alnico 5 58's which by the specs are a little hotter than PAF's. I thought for the price if they're not what I'm looking for I'll sell them on and then go with my original plan...

    MIJ Love Rock

Hi John, I can't wait to stick them in to be honest. Might have a little impromptu gig coming up in a couple of weeks and it'd be nice to have them in for that. I'll have to give them a review on Harmony. Allan got a bit of stick on a guitar builders forum from another pickup maker saying they...

    MIJ Love Rock

Well, I emailed Allan at Catswhiskers and he was very helpful with suggestions. I was going to put my 1970's Gibson T Top pickup in the bridge ( currently in an Ibanez I've got ) and get him to make me a neck pickup to match. He was only going to charge ?50! However just before I made a decision...

    MIJ Love Rock

Hello John, hope you're still enjoying the guitar! I was making the comparison between the amount of filler around the fretmarkers of the 2 guitars as on this one there is no evidence at all whereas on the 75Q I remember there being a fair bit of black filler round some of the markers. This is...

    MIJ Love Rock

True enough I suppose. I heard they sometimes put the model in the bridge cavity but whether this is an urban myth I don't know. I can't remember whether there was anything in my LS75Q ( which was another great guitar ) but they are easy enough to recognise anyway.

    MIJ Love Rock

The Catswhiskers sound promising especially at the prices. I was thinking of Bareknuckles as I've got one of Tim's Uber Sinner hot single coils and it is fantastic so thought I'd give his humbuckers a go. Only problem is they're around ?90 or so

    MIJ Love Rock

You never know, I might actually keep this one as it's the same colour as Scott Gorham's but I have 2 other guitars so 1 of them will have to go! I just couldn't pass up on it at the price. I think people were put off by the seller because of his feedback and the fact he was unsure himself what...

    MIJ Love Rock

I thought it may have been an LS60 or 65 as I thought they were the only ones that came with plain caps but to be honest I haven't seen one of these matte finish ones anywhere. The other reason I thought it might be an entry level Japanese one was the 3 piece mahogany back ( unless my eyes have...

    MIJ Love Rock

I think I've got the hang of photobucket so here's the link. I'll get a few more pics up. I had an LS75Q oak quilt and that was great but there was a lot of filler between the fretmarkers and the board which tended to take the gloss off the quality elsewhere but this one is immaculate with no...

    MIJ Love Rock

Hello, new to the forum so sorry if I'm posting on the wrong topic area. I've just bought a MIJ Love Rock and I wonder if anyone could tell me what model it's likely to be as I'm stumped. It's a 2002 serial number 0205129 and it's a beautiful matte CS finish which I've never seen before with a...
