New pickups for Tokai ES-120 (Gibson 335 copy)

Hello, I am looking for new pickups for my Tokai ES-120. Although the clean sounds are not too bad, I am not very happy about the overdriven sound of the pickups. I am thinking about Seymour Duncan SH-55 Seth Lovers because of their appraised clarity and smoothness. These characteristics seem...

No more lefty Gibsons? Glad I got my lefty Tokai!

I asked the German Gibson distributor and they told me that they will continue to build lefties. Only the custom shop stopped building lefties right now.

Roger, I agree generally, but these are not the usual Fralin PAFs. This RS Guitarworks/Lindy Fralin cooperation is more mismatched and provide more highs, almost like a P-90. Bareknuckles and WCR could be interesting, the price for Kloppmanns is obscene. Which Bareknuckles or WCR would you...

    Gibson Electronics

For a better explanation than I could ever give see: http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/grounding-faq.txt If you have a ground loop in your guitar circuit, you will have a nice and remarkable hum. If you do not listen this hum, you do not have a problem with a ground loop. Hearing the neck...

Amo, well ordered! It looks as nice as it should be for that price. What do you think about the pickups and the pots?

Hi, you should also take a look at the following link where different types of Les Paul wirings are described in good way: http://www.singlecoil.com/docs/paula.pdf But take care: the lower drawing on page 3 shows a ground wire going from pot to pot in a circle. This may cause a ground loop...

    Gibson Electronics

Look at the following link: http://www.rsguitarworks.net/rsstore/product_info.php?cPath=45&products_id=334 I do not expect that this is just a good marketing strategy.

    Gibson Electronics

Sorry, Fake58 and RS Guitarworks are not using the same components. For example, they have completely differenct sources for capacitors. Also, RS Guitarworks let CTS produce some pots especially for guitar application and is indeed metering all pots if someone is buying an upgrade set. Metering...

    Gibson Electronics

I would have an eye on the RS Guitarworks stuff as well. They seem to take a lot of care on caps and pots and are cheaper than Fake58, even if you consider shipping, taxes and custom duties. They have great reviews in the internet. Does Fake58 has a good reputation, too?

The Bareknuckles are surely a good choice. I am thinking about RS/Lindy Fralin PAFs. You should listen to them here: http://www.rsguitarworks.net/cms/media/mp3/Greg1.mp3 http://www.rsguitarworks.net/cms/media/mp3/Greg2.mp3 http://www.rsguitarworks.net/cms/media/mp3/Greg3.mp3...

Mine SHALL be violin, but it is more red than the other violin finishs I have seen so far. But maybe this is a problem of the picture. By the way: the finishs are a little problem for the series from my point of view. Amo, myself and some others can be happy with the finish of our ordered...

It seems to be christmas in February for lefties! Amo, you got a nice one. Where did you get yours from? I ordered one yesterday from Richtone. Mine will be number 8 of 20.

And now for something completely different: what do you think of the stock pickups of the LS-1000? They come with Gotoh Custom Vintage PAFs. Are they okay for the ones who already own a LS-1000?

    Japanese Tokai-dealers exporting to Europe

Hello, does anybody know about some Japanese dealers who export Tokais to Europe? I know Ishibashi who has no Tokais anymore and does not reply on my e-mails, but nobody else. I am looking especially for some lefty Tokais. I think they should be a little bit cheaper, even with shipping costs...

    Tokai Firebird LEFTY

I do not see a big reason to worry. It looks pretty nice, but the body is alder and not mahogany like the original Firebird. The sound and sustain must be pretty different.

    Looking for a LS-150 VF

Hi, look for the user "togps" in this forum, he imports Tokais in Germany. You can also get in contact with the British distributor http://www.tokai-guitars.co.uk/. Bob is really a nice guy and is willing to export to Germany.
