2 Tokai BreezySound: what wood for what sound

From the weight and looking at the pictures, the heavy one is probably hash. It is harder to tell for the lighter one but it could be alder or basswood. I am less familiar with the grain of these woods. Tr?s belles guitares en passant. :P

    My new Tokai....

Wow! Very nice guitar! And good pics too. I own one like this but it has a few differences, made for the US market, with an altered horn, headstock and control layout to avoid Gibson litigation. I love it anyway. Congrats|

    Love Rock pickup switch behavior

Here is my conclusion after some searching and testing. The magnet orientation is the same for each PU; one is rotated so to have the screws on the outside. But you are right about orientation, it does not matter. Even when you rotate a pickup by 180, the resulting induced current will flow in...

    Love Rock pickup switch behavior

Things are getting clearer, thanks. But I am still confused about the orientation; if PUs are alike, don't you change the polarity when the PU is rotated to have the coil with the screws on the outside? If you look at this diagram, http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/schematics/2h_2v_3w.html ...

    Love Rock pickup switch behavior

The wiring seems ok. The PU are Seymour Duncan, an SH-2 Jazz at the neck position and an SH-1 '59 at the bridge. The Jazz has four conductors, with the red and white spliced together, the green/bare to ground and the black is the signal. The '59 has only one conductor and a shield to ground...

    Love Rock pickup switch behavior

It does sound a little like a Tele but not that much, indicating that some frequencies are cut. It sounds "normal" when I roll off one volume. But if I roll both volumes to the same level, it will sound nasal again. I have checked the wiring and later rewired it; it did not change this behavior.

    Love Rock pickup switch behavior

I have a second hand Love Rock and noticed that when I select both pickups, the sound gets a little quieter and less noisy than the individual position. Is this the correct behavior of such guitars? I have found an article elsewhere that could be an answer...

    Tone volume controls orientation

Hi everybody, I bought a used MIJ Love Rock a couple of months ago and just noticed some differences, like the tone and volume controls being oriented in a different way. Also, the horn at the cutaway seems rounder. The serial number is 0205830 so it would be a 2002 if I got it right. I cannot...
