my info is that only 320 and older 200 loverocks are fully nitro. reborn LS-100 to 150 as well as earlier loverocks were only clear-top coated with nitro and had poly sealers. but there is some confusion about that even in japan, especially about the 120's (laquer or not, veneer or not...)
either they're laughing or they don't know what a tenon is.
anyway, you are completely right IMO. the 320's and i think older 200's have a long tenon (tongue), i don't know too much about the newer 200's.
supernout
(back in saddle again!)
Hi all,
the auction at ebay showed definitely a 320. This is the only Tokai model being custom-made. It's easy to tell from the regular models by it's tuner line-up. Other hints are the different routings for both Pu-cavities or headstock wood veneer instead of plastic and many else little...
It seems that they started with "inkies" in '78 and changed it during the year. Nothing to be worried about. The 001 stated in the '78 catalog is inked as well (custom cs) and I can't remember either having seen any impressed '78 nor any thin lettered '78 LPR logo. But I've only seen about a...
Hi Mike,
please do me one favor. Shoot a front pic of the headstock, the lense 90 deg. to the surface, standard or better tele-lense, no wide-angle. It will answer the question, if it's a Tokai or Greco or any brand neck. I compared the neck of my Tokai hybrid of '80 or whatever and it was...
Hi Ian,
Me no good at riddles either!
So where did I said that? :-? I just don't remember having used that term. But the pix are probably gonna answer the riddle :o
Note the neck cavity and especially the control cavity, impossible to fit the standard Tokai Printed Circuit Board. The...
Hi Mike,
If I could clone a Mercedes, I would not waste my time in cloning a Volkswagen. Why are you so superduper sure about the cloning thing? Did you fake it back then?
You often could not even tell an indian from a brazilian fretboard in the past, so why should I believe that your...
referring to the '79 catalog the LS-100 had Dimarzio PAF's, while the LS-150 had Dimarzio PAF - Super Distortion.
The LS-100 is actually an LS-80 equipped with Dimarzio Pu's made in U.S.A. therefore an additional cost of 20k yen. There's no difference concerning construction or wood. :o
yes, you're right Ned, it doesn't matter as long as I keep playing it. Anyway, I forgot to mention that it's a solid flametop, so it's definitely not an ALS50 or korean model.
BTW Ian, IAM... WTH is AFAIK :-?
The redflametop that I can't keep my hands off came w/o a serial number. I don't know why but probably due to the fact that it's a custom colour or custom order equipped with Grovers. I would seriously doubt a korean origin. It' too old :)
twenty-5, to be exact
Being serious again, I still own one and I remember seeing two or three '78 inkies on Yahoo jp. LS were officially introduced back in '78 so I would only expect any LS prototypes or, of course strat & tellies prior to that year.
I've seen a few '78 inked ones, especially bs models, but never a '79. Different theory??? (a.k.a. first korean attempt theory?)
Unfortunately I don't know anything about Greco guitars. But the '80 Tokai Love Rock I owned looked absolutely the same regarding neck/body joint & the two...
Loudmouses’ axe is from 1980. Absolutely no doubt about it. Just take a look at the tuners :o . No flat but beveled tops. Take one off. You can prove the early '80 dating by the small tuner pin and the additional hole between the two tuner drillholes.
A theory :
Love Rocks with inked...
looks like the seller took the first three digits to think it's a ES-900. Actually it's from 1990 therefore and supposed to be a not at allst "sought after" ES-100
buy it buy it buy it..cheap
It cannot be a 320. 320's are handmade and the headstock tuner holes have the original '59 style spacing. This is an ordinary tokai spacing :o
