I tried to trace it a bit, from the tone potmeter. But since there is a pot for middle/high-freq. xover, I'll have to check it out and try to compare with other schematics I have. I have little experience with this, so I'm a bit in the dark for the time beeing, but I won't give up yet :)
I...
Well I found that the tonecontrol circuit is not like TS9/OD1, so I ended up putting back one of the original diodes and one that is slightly mismatched. Sound quite good now, but I think it still has potential to be better. So, I'm still after the schematic, if anyone happens to come across it 8)
Hi, Barry :)
I don't think the diodes are grounded, I think it's more like the TS9/808 and OD-1! Maybe I'll just go with it from that assumption, and try figuring out the tonecontrol. I'll try to work around the middle freq.x-over... I'll get back to how the result came out!
Thanks for the...
Hi, guys!
I have done a slight mod on my TMD-1 Metaldriver. I did a swap on the diodes that control the amount of distortion. It turned out quite good, but now it lacks some treble, so it's become quite dark.... If anyone has the schematic for this, it would be great, so I can brighten it up a...
Hi!
I was talking with grefert the other day, and he pointed out for me that you were quite knowlegdeable about guitar electronics!
My Q for you is what do you know about dummy coils (like SRV used), like values, brands etc. I wish to try it out, but wrong value on the coil will alter the tone...
Are you shure it's rosewood?? I know it's been used other wood types on some necks that looks very much like rosewood. The main rule is; the denser the wood, the brighter is the sound..... So if it's some denser woodtype type, you'll have to change neck or live with it....
OK, I'll open it up the next time I get my hands on it, and check out which type of switch it's got! I don't worry about value on this one, this one's for keeping.
Barry: thanks. In other words, I would have to have to modify it in order to reduce the output of wah contra bypass? I think the difference is a tad too big.....
Gregert: Otto Minde has one for sale, about 1000 - 1100Nkr, if you're interested. This one also includes both 60ies and 70ies fuzz...
If to wah or not to wah is the question, I'd definately have to say WAH! ;)
The only fx's I use (aside from distortion of course), is a Dunlop 3-in-1 wah, and a Marshall tremolo (TR-1?, can't remember), and that's what I need :P
To add another frustration to this debate about costs; A Duncan '59 goes for about $66 in the states, right? Well, here in Norway it costs about $185!!!! Someone's making a LOT of moneyhere....
How 'bout that??
About screws, what about the local hardware store? Unless it's gold, of course... Any luthiers nearby? Since this is a Gibbo style guitar, you should be able to use Gibbo parts, if you're not all about ariginality....
