Pretty sure that my Goldstar from '83 (BLOCK logo) has 'Deluxe' stamped tuners. And the one blurry photo I have here of my '83 Springy also appears to show 'Deluxe'. (I can check for sure on Monday.) If so, the implication is that the change of name to Goldstar came after the switch to 'Deluxe'. In ...

Perhaps I should have put quotation marks around the article. Again, it was a copy and paste job. So what if I'm back pedaling? :P It's my prerogative. Well, I'm glad you posted the article - I hadn't read such detail before. But it's both useful to readers and good manners to properly attribute ot...

Hey Luis. No, I mean genuine old-fashioned British blue-blooded aristocracy: The Honorary Roland Augusto Jestyn Estanislao Philipps. He has a rather more blues-friendly stage name! ;) Todd Sharpville: http://www.toddsharpville.com/ Has played and recorded with many Blues greats, and called when I on...

I have a couple of ST-50s now: '83 Springy Sound that I've owned from new and an '83 Goldstar. Both are BLOCK logo. When the Springy is back from the luthier, I'll post a mini-group shot. FWIW, I also had an ST-80 from '79 or so (can't recall from memory), but I offloaded it after a while when I rea...

Squares with what little I know. (Would also add that the presumably the replica bass guitars also followed similar patterns; my '83 Jazz Bass replica has a 'TOKAI' block logo, for example.) One Q: was the 'TOKAI' block logo a UK-only or perhaps export-only thing? Because I'm not sure I've ever seen...

Tokai catalogue vol 27

This was one I picked up in Japan this Spring. Latest version (I presume), 24pp, Japanese.

Free as long as you cover postage and PP fees.

No... I propose it to him but he doesn't like the cherry sunburt and just propose me a trade.
Interesting to propse a trade for a guitar he doesn't like. He must really hate the guitar he's trying to offload on you! :D

I've got three of these block-logo guitars, so I could check a bit later. From memory it seems almost as if they were a rather clumsy Letraset (but I'm sure they are not).

To be honest, I doubt they are every likely to be fakes, as anyone going to the effort would fake a 7okai logo instead.

The major shock was the colour code' CS' in the control cavity. As cherry sunburst was not a colour offered to Breezys, and the colour is Candy Apple Red (not Metallic), my thoughts were a Custom Spray which would have been 5000yen extra. Interesting. My block logo Springy Sound is also a non-metal...

Indeed! Had to leave while you were still playing, but enjoyed every moment. That ST-80 sounds very good in your hands.

Will be in touch re lunch/etc! :)

Any number of things, at this point. Died how? Fuse popped? Only low level of guitar signal output? Any hum from the speakers at all? Good thing is - as long as the transformers are still OK - a 2104 can be fixed for not much money. '77 means it has a PCB, so it's not quite as easy to work on as pre...

Is that a trick of the light, or is the body colouring very mismatched?

If it's as obvious as that in person, I would't buy it unless the price was super low compared to other Breezysounds.

I'm the opposite - on a goldtop, the cream/black pickup rings and nickel cover/exposed bobbins, spoil the classy understated look. :)
