Nice to see him quietly playing guitar instead of cooking meth.

No problem providing direct links - always helps forum buddies out when you're not interested in buying yourself.

The older advert doesn't mention that spot either - perhaps it's just a natural flaw (a.k.a. 'beauty spot)? I happen to like little bits of character like that. :)

Ad's here: http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/msg/4262497802.html

Looks like a filled mini-toggle hole between the pickup controls, and a very cool subtlely figured top.

Close enough and these most likely came this way out of the parts bin - random chance.

I'm sure Tokai would not have tested individual pickups before mounting them. If the original owner found the neck pickup a bit too powerful, he'd just alter the pickup height to compensate.

Oooh - harmonic tremolo!

Is there any chance you still have the original 1x15 baffle and D130F somewhere?

There are no rules - what works for you might not for the guy with air-hair and a pointy guitar + huge pedalboard. For me, the G12H 30W in a 2x12/4x12 closed-back cab is my sweetspot. Lots of classic tracks have been recorded on the cheapest and 6" and 8" speakers that Leo could get his hands on. La...

A good luthier could make that disappear, but that asking price is steeper than a mountain goat's loft ladder. Of course, when you're a dealer in old guitars, you have little choice but to over-price. Can't make any more of them, and each one that passes through your hands is a one-off opportunity f...

Well, that was no fun, One answer and an immediate win! :-?

Yes, I've always been perplexed as to why the copies rarely got the wood grain direction right.

Prize...? Cripes - I thought I'd not need one. OK, PM me your address and I'll send something from my Big Box of Stuff. :)

What Suki said.

I've had a block logo Springy from new in '83, and more recently bought a block logo Goldstar. There's no discernible difference in quality/fit/build/tone/etc.

I'd agree that a 7okai logo is more attractive, more expensive and easier to sell.

I was surprised that the Ibanez RocketRoll is so highly prized and priced given it uses the wrong woods. TOKAI FV58-180 Korena/White Limba Stunning! :o Indeed, it's very nice, but at that price I want it to look perfect. And there's one important detail that's wrong on that. (Wrong also on many/all ...

The Love Rock 2, seems to have a limited appeal, is this because they are an unfamiliar model? Lack of finishes? Not much of a used market? I was thinking that if they held their price then maybe more players would try them knowing that they would be easy to sell on if they didn't like them. They a...

IMHO, unless you absolutely must have the single-cut classic LP shape, the LRII is far better value. But the downside is that they will always be harder to sell in the future. If you decide to go for the single-cut, go high-end (LS-200+) or go old and low-end (LS-60 or so) and maybe upgrade the elec...

Members who don't know their guitar's entire history, ... shouldn't participate in the poll, if you're hoping for meaningful poll results. This. If and only if someone has owned a guitar from brand new should you take their input as truth. Everything else is wishful thinking, noise not signal. We a...
