I mean this in the nicest possible way - who cares if it's real :)

IF you want a nice classical guitar I wouldn't be thinking about Tokai. You should be able to find something locally for cheap.

I just couldn't work out if you were defending the guy or not. It's hard to imagine too many people on the forum supporting his point of view, mostly because he is a little generous with the hype in his product descriptions. Then you have his outrageous asking prices 200% of actual market value for...

Re: average price of 84' Goldstar in US?

I'm not sure what the going price is for them in the states since they are not very common, especially with the correct headstock. Even if they were rare, which I don't think they are, it wouldn't have a big impact on value. There are so many flavors of Strat copies out there a buyer has endless op...

Maybe you mean LS-80?

Link the auction and we can tell you.

I never noticed any of mine being heavy but I don't weigh my guitars or really care about that.

I don't think you can generalize by brand. Just judge each guitar on its own.

Re: 1981 LS-50 Sold - relisted by buyer for nearly $1000 mor

Wouldn't you think the guy would wait until the old listing was down? That' not his style, he's pretty shameless. His asking prices are always good for a laugh but I think he has sold quite a few guitars. I wouldn't be interested anywhere near that price but some people are, I guess. A black 1981 L...

I can't read the auction text but I do see a few details. The tailpiece is not original - it should have some flaking of the plating and it is completely smooth. Also the bridge is not original, it should have brass saddles. The tuners and truss rod cover and pickups look ok. Maybe also the electron...

It is tough to tell from the pictures and description - is the finish original? If it is and the headstock is not broken then I think you should buy it.

The sticker doesn't mean much. You can tell it's an LS-120 from the specs. It has fret edge binding, flametop, and DiMarzios. I'd like to see some more pictures to make sure everything is ok but it sounds like a reasonable price for such a high end guitar. It has nice flame and also a very desirable...

You might want to read the initial post again. Simply questions being raised. Nothing pompous about it, just legitimate questions now shown to be completely justified. yes you have a point maybe Bruno can shed some light ,cause i spoke to the guy that sold it to me and he said that this was not ment...

Yes, avoid this one. Look for an earlier Tokai Explorer. Rare but awesome.

Vintage correct features and appearance are nice, but not necessarily indicative of a good sounding guitar (IMO). Perhaps, but they say "cheap guitar" to me. Those are some big compromises in build quality, material quality, and parts quality. That's what gives the guitar intrinsic value. When you ...

When I see those cheap tuners, big truss rod cover, and multi piece neck, I go running in the other direction. I don't see a lot of quality there.
