Appears to combine all the least desirable strat type options into one guitar. I'd pass.

They are making more Gibsons every day.

There are only so many old LS-80, LS-100, and LS-120 guitars.

I think 1980 was the last year for fretboard stamping.

I doubt the posts are bent. What happens is that the wood in the body is not enough to support them. You have a couple options. 1. Get another set of thumbwheels and put them down against the body to stabilize the post right where it comes out of the body. Then add your original thumbwheels back on ...

I sold a 1981 with original case and I only got $450 for it. People don't pay much for the basses unless they are PB-80.

I've been fooled by that too :) Buffing compound from a refinish can look similar.

You've got it in hand so you are the best judge of it.

I think the body has been oversprayed or refinished. I have not see that kind of neck pocket spray pattern in a Tokai. Usually the whole bottom of the pocket is raw wood. Here we only have half of it like a Fender. The body also looks very glossy in the pictures with thick reflections - it certainly...

It's an original Tokai. I suppose an LS-60CS model. Maybe the sticker for the model # fell off. Everything else looks original, the wiring is usually gray instead of white but the solder joints are untouched.

No idea but plenty of wrong details. The back electronics cover is a funny shape, switch cover only has 2 screws, white backplates always a bad sign of non-Japanese manufacture, and 3 screw truss rod cover.

True, those are not popular items. You can get a lot of great basses and acoustics cheap in whatever country you live in so the value just isn't there for the MIJ stuff. Tokai LS & ST and other hi spec guitars, that's a different story :)

They nearly went out of business around 1983. Look at a 1984 Love Rock next to a 1981 Love Rock and you will see the difference. The model specs had to be reorganized so you got less for the same money. I think Mark has an article about it on his site, but the main point is that 1983/84 is pretty mu...
