That is for sure. Love how they serialized the neck tenons too but this would be eventually cut off once fitted. Wonder if they were matched or similar to how the Tele's and Strats were? I suspect they were random and used for dates and production batches but cool nonetheless. I have no clue about ...

Very good deal - almost too good. If the switch has been replaced in the past then it belonged to somebody who knew the difference. I hate to say it but I'd be concerned that if CC had it and bought it really cheap, somebody was trying to shift it quickly. It could thus be stolen property. I'm not ...

The dark spots? Not sure, almost looks like stain or glue spots. No glued piece on the back, that is a lip left from the router bit when rounding over the edge. I bought this as you see it, the seller said it was bought in 1980 directly from Tokai via some sort of build your own/seconds sale they h...

What's with all the strange marks in the control cavity, and the green looking marks on the maple top?

Is there a piece glued onto the back - kind of looks like there's a 1cm board glued onto the back, or is just the exposed grain causing an illusion?

Are you building this, or Tokai?

You got a fantastically good deal there, with trade-ins or at the full listed price.

They should have had at least double or triple on that LP - 500 quid surely.

Cripes, I just scored a Goatkeeper Tremolo that cost 200 pounds.

Always wanted to try a SEB.

Woah, is that really what a ls173 would look like? I've read that a 173, last years 160 are on build quality par with a Gibby LP standard. I guess this is not true? Thanks. In all the vital areas such as good intonation, neck stability, fret work and sweet tuning the Tokai would probably surpass Gi...

...but I remember hearing from someone who wanted to manufacture clothing over there, and he said they put the CE safety mark on the label without the items being appropriately tested and certified. When confronted about it their response was basically "So what? It's only a logo. Be sure to wash yo...

Not sure what "has my heart ruled my head" means? Yeah, I think it's more a case of wallet affecting desire. It does provide a useful example as to why guitar companies make signature models, and charge over the odds for them. Ask Tokai UK to order you a ES145 in White. Good point, and there's a fe...

...I would personally try to cancel the credit card transaction before shipment. Pretty much says it all. Then again, if you don't care about the money it would be good to find out from a reliable source what these things are like. Sorry mate, but if your heart made you buy that you may need a tran...

Looks like the headstock is two piece - would that occur on the 80?

It's definitely a Tokai body from some period. The headstock is the smaller 50's/60's size and seems to be colour matched to the body pretty well - maybe just a logo change? Sorry to say, but to be sure about the neck you will have to take it off again and see if there's a similar code to the "9=3" ...

The tail piece position will cause the string to reach the adjusted bridge / saddles on an angle - will this effect sound or sustain in any way? I don't see why it would. Nobody seems to worry about it at the headstock end. Ha ha ha   OP - it would only be a very slight angle and probably...
