I reckon the Tokai SPs are better than the rest. First you have that neat little brass plate under the controls, which acts as shielding, & it provides nice convenient tags for soldering the earth connections to - saves having to solder the earths wires to the back of the pots. No other Strats have...

What happened in 1995? Did Gibson quality improve? they started making historic type guitars Historics started in 1993, before this there were the so called "Pre-Historics" that began around 1983 but did not have long tenon neck joints. There may be some long tenon LPs around that were made in 1992...

As others have said, the route mod on the bridge pickup cavity is no big deal, and the guitar looks fantastic when it's got all its bits on! Thanks for the replies, and big thanks to Mike for posting his Tele as it is very similar to that one on ebay. I have bought a different one from a shop here in Australia - cost about the same when shipping is taken into account, but the big plus is that the guy said if I don't like it I can send it...
