Yeah the board looks original.

Even my '81 LS120 has that board in it... higher models didn't.

Re: Does changing pickups lower the value of a tokai?

I wouldn't think so myself. A lot of people change out the stock pups on Tokai's and if the electronics aren't cutting it.... well i'd swap them out too. Do people in the U.K. have a fascination for originality on an almost new guitar ??

I'd say go for it.

Re: "Best" Tokai LP Style Recommendation - Tokyo visit

Hell You are Toykyo !!! I have 6 Tokai's myself so its not like i don't hold them in high esteem but..........unless your heart is set on Tokai, i'd look for some of the other makes as well. Bacchus, Crews, Navigator, Greco, Burny... the world is your oyster. I'm very envious of your visit. Enjoy yo...

That's a nice one. I have a SE500 from later that month. The neck is really nice and they have a deep belly cut.

Good luck with your sale !

Re: Help with identification

I doubt Tokai could tell you what it was by the serial number. Take out a pickup or both and look in there and take some pictures... but my guess is that is a TLS50 in VF (finish)

Looks killer !!!

Congrats !!

Here's the '85 catalog

Re: Tokai Korean es150 date of manufacture and specs

That one has a UK export headstock by the look of it though, i'm more up on the MIJ stuff.

No F-Hole label ??

Re: tokai, positive or negative in your country?

Here in Canada it seems that Tokai is usually associated with Fakai's. There are real ones around too but no one has heard of them which makes me wonder why anyone here would fake an unknown brand ?? Most people here would rather pay $1600.00 for a Gibson Studio with a bad plek job and numerous QC i...

Re: what "TOKAI" means?

Thanks for the reply and for your knowledge. I have to say i have a certain fascination for MIJ guitars and for Tokai especially. A used 2000 TJ60 was my first MIJ Guitar. The rest is pure obsession lol.

Don't know if you noticed (or if it was mentioned above ^^^) but beginning is misspelled on them as begining ..... just a cool little factoid.
Haha i never noticed the spelling mistake. Good eye. Could be proof that we are already living in an alternate reality though, so there's that. lol
