You need to take some digital photos with a camera & then load them onto your PC. Then go to Photobucket.com and register there (it?s free) ? that gives you space to upload any 4 pictures from your PC to the Photobucket host computer (you can upload many more if you pay them a monthly subscription)....

Mike do you have photo? I expect its puka all right, those darkbacks are very dark ? yeah, I?ve not really worked out those pearlescent tuner pegs, but the more photos I see the more I think there are two different finishes on those pegs. Anyone else see that, or have thoughts on it?

A 79 LS80 Reborn without the circuit board, in the Catalogues, really? Where? Afaik, originally LS80 should have the board. 1978 catalogue does show the board. I see a photo of cavity without board in 1981 for Love rock (ie with discrete caps), but hard to read model id (& if it does say less than L...

Yep, what Tops said (& excellent photo too 8)) ? I was fooled by same thing about a year back. It?s absolutely typical not only on Gibson copies but also on Gibson?s themselves, ie the black facia of headstock is a plastic-like plate glued onto the wooden headstock. On Reborn?s the plastic that Toka...

Yep, looks like one changed tuner ? other 5 correctly stamped ?Tokai? (ie correct for pre 1980). Switch tip looks replaced (too white), maybe pickguard too (minor things). Gstormcrow, you did check those threads about inked numbers, right? One thing I notice on those guitars, inked numbers always se...

For some reason I missed this thread completely. But just for info. -- originally from 1978 onwards, Reborn LS80 & above got fret binding, & lower Reborn models LS50 & LS60 were unbound. Believe that practice continued on Love Rocks at least up until 1983 (ie bound LS80 & above). After that I begin ...

Tokai did once make a small & very neat looking copy of small 1950?s Fender ?tweed? amp (looked like 5-watt 1955 Princeton ?wide-panel??) ? the Tokai was solid state & about 15-30watt I think ? it?s in the catalogues somewhere ? a couple just sold on eBay around $170. Presumably the Blues Junior wil...

Hey Chu ? congrats on getting what should be a really lovely guitar ? hope it proves worth the 20 year wait 8) . Wow $500 was great price on that guitar (yeah I know, there?s shipping & tax too, it?s a pain but ...) ? early Love Rocks also becoming collectible of course, so you?d easy get your mone...

Hi Scott - several guys have asked this. Personally, on a nice vintage Love rock like LS80 I would keep the thing stock. Is there something lacking in the tone do you feel, eg against the R9? I guess the change is reversible though, so try it by all means (my money is on ?no worthwhile diff.?) :-? ...

Hi Mr Shiney ? I'm not knocking licensed MIK guitars ... what I said was personally I'd strongly prefer an old MIJ LS50 instead of new MIK ALS48 ... and then added ?I'm probably biased, because I always prefer older guitars?. Prefer 1982 LS50, that's all :-? . Hi JSD ? nobody is spreading BS ? I?m ...

Chu71 ? I expect JSD is fine, but take a look at this thread & see what JSD says in reply to ?togps? regarding what appears to be a number of unofficial Korean Tokai copies on sale from Canada ? bit of a ?can of worms? there (if you know that expression) http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=38...

Never been to San Sebastian or Jazz festival, but was over in Madrid a couple of times in May ? great city, liked it a lot (tried a very nice Flamenco guitar from a private maker ?1200euro though, ouch!). OK, here?s the thread re Plywood on MIK Tokais, you need to read all 4 pages (took us until pag...

Hi Chu71 , how's things in sunny Madrid? OK, three things....(1) if you?ve always played Fender-style guitars then you may find Les Paul a shock, tone is much darker & deeper ? I know some Fender guys hate it and never get used to it ? so be careful of that. (2)those guitars in your link from JSD a...

Yes, Supernout knew lots of stuff. Loverocker went same way (perhaps more permanently), Lee doesn't post so much here now ("Oldflame"), even Peter Mac is quite scarce ... guys come & go on any forum, & new guys replace them, which is good ... but I have particular respect for those who contributed s...
