Yes you can date by the logo, but not after 1984. Before 84 you had thin spaghetti logo (7okai) from 78 until 82, then in 83 a distintive block logo which only lasted until beginning of 84, and somewhere between 83 & 84 there was a rare fat script 7okai logo. But in 84 they changed to the type of lo...

Hey Jim ? ha, I thought someone would say that, quote ? ?I dunno, Ian... If it sounds like a turd acoustically it just sounds like a louder turd plugged in?... Well I respect your opinion, & you?re in good company because everyone says that. But not me lol. :) May seem like an appealing idea ...

Well he needs a shave I can tell you that. Plek is a fancy & expensive method of setting up a guitar (on a machine I believe). I think he was once seen playing a Tokai. But famously plays an original 1950's Gibson Burst (not that I know anything about Mr Gibbons). In that last pic, either that guita...

The L serial won't tell you anything about date (only about which US Fender it's supposed to be copying). Be wary of the 1984 date - almost everyone who has a Goldstar tries to claim it's as old as possible, and 84 is earliest possible date for modern style logo (most of those guitars are much newer...

Ahh,?now I said I?d take the old LS50 in preference (easy choice imho), what I didn?t say, & don?t think I?ve ever said on this forum (or any other) is that the old one will definitely sound clearly better  . To me the old LS50 has other advantages as well as sounding pretty good. But the tone...

Hi Hans - yes, I was using Steve Russell?s site for info & id etc. (vintagehofner.co.uk). No idea about 1970?s, & really I know little about Hofner guitars, but quite easy to distinguish 1950?s models from 1960?s, because earlier ones have no truss rod (hence no trc), and headstock inlays kept chan...

Ahh, now you German guys, getting all the best old Reborns (OK, ok, I know, Han?s favours a new LS200/320 etc.), and Togps even has a full 1979 Catalogue ? just isn?t fair  . OK, I still come across some decent old UK valve amps like early Hiwatt or Park (Marshall & Vox long since off the scale...

Maybe you have different catalogues? In the Registry our 79 Cat. only has Reborns. The 78 Catalogue seems correct to me ie with 8-hole on 50?s & 11-hole for 60?s. Don?t recall ever seeing a 10, but I don?t always check the holes lol. :-?

Shouldn?t they be 8-screw for maple neck 50?s copy, and 11 screw on rosewood neck copies of 60?s Strat?

Ha, ?OK I see, so Togs thinks smart guys like the old ones lol :D . Well, I just like older things in general (not just guitars). But actually I think most experienced guys would agree with YOU about the LS320. I think Loverocker ended up preferring new LS320 (though I think he may now be partially ...

Very nice looking guitar (great photos) 8) . Again I notice those pearloid looking tuner pegs,..maybe I?m seeing those on early Reborns rather than slightly later Love rocks? On the pickups I haven?t noticed the ?X? before, are they Gotoh?s? Also the switch-tip which is white (as on Gstormcrow?s rec...
