Absolutely any Japanese Tokai LP style guitar in your budget would be a great instrument. The model numbers are all over the place so if you see something that's a LS85F then it's probably just a slightly older LS92F (or something like that) so don't get hung up on model numbers

There is a possibility the EX55 is drilled for metric pots and the ones supplied with the blackouts are imperial, if this is the case you will have to open the holes up a tiny little bit, it's 5 minutes work with some sandpaper wrapped around a pencil if you have to, so not major surgery.

Had exactly the same problem. I think Gotoh do a bridge with metroc spacing as oppose to the more usual vintage spacing but never tried one.

The Wilkinson one with the elongated holes also fits

What people sometimes forget is a Goldstar is just a Breezy with a different logo and there are always a few on ebay UK at reasonable, and often bargain prices

Yes, Dave and Diamond (Diamond Dave) , I agree with both sides of the discussion and it's unfortunate that resale value has to come in to it, but it's a fact of life in particular in our current economic climate that a new Tokai is a financially risky purchase. Another thing to consider is to keep y...

I do have a pair out of my LS80 and was planning hanging on to them, but doubt I'll ever use them. Bit rusty on the bottom as a lot of them seem to be but decent condition otherwise. Make me a an offer ;)

I know this is the Tokai forum, but I would probably choose the Gibson out of the two at those prices. The Tokai will no doubt be as good as, or even better than the Gibson quality-wise, but if you came to sell it, the Gibson would definitely hold it's value better. The MK2 pickups are great BTW, no...
