I use Sennheiser HD 280 Professionals, closed, circumaural monitoring headphones. Up to 32 dB of ambient noise attenuation + easily replaceable parts. Price around 100 euros. I don't disturb anyone else and I don't hear them = I can play around the clock. :D

Maybe the most famous guitarist using top-wrapping is Zakk Wylde? What could go wrong if you try it, nothing! :D

You have to make the decision for yourself. If you want it, buy it. If you hesitate, forget it.

1963 might be your guitar?s serial number and A=7 is just a work order or factory number, not significant. Though you might find similar markings on the body cavities and the electronics, if they are close to each other then you could proof that they are from the same era and not changed to possibly...

Did you know there is a 89R-model too? Active SA single-coil in different position, you get the same effect if you turn 89 180 degrees but then the text is upside down. :D

Too many ifs, buts, (un)likelys, surelys, maybes and whys for me at the moment. To me K-series is made in Korea until someone shows some real hard evidence. :D

I hope you are not becoming obsessed with this, japanstrat.

Re: K Serial Orvilles origins solved.

I know from tracking auctions that the K serial Orvilles were sold in Ishibashi stores which means Yamano wasn't involved and therefore the K prefix stands for "Kanda Shokai". Both the Yamano and Kanda Shokai commissioned Orvilles were made in Japan just like the Japanese Fenders. Korea doesn't com...
