Re: Tokai Les Paul Custom MIJ?

The poor quality images don't help, but you can just make out the wide, slotted bridge posts. Whatever it is, it ain't MIJ.

EDIT: Truss rod cover overlaps the logo too. That's wrong, so it's probably been changed.

Re: Love Rock 2 - Controls / Coil Splitting Function?

They certainly are. You have two coil splits, one for each pickup. The volume splits whichever pickup has the brown wire, the tone splits the one with the black wire. My guess would be that the volume splits neck and the tone splits bridge, but to be sure you'd just have to look at the wire colourin...

Re: Love Rock 2 - Controls / Coil Splitting Function?

Can you post some clear pics of the wiring cavity? We can probably work it out from that.

Re: Les Paul Love Rock - Serial Number?

First two digits are the year of manufacture and the CA is only seen in Chinese models.

So CA10 = Made in China, 2010.

Re: Love Rock Pickup Height: Neck below the ring?

My moderate output PAF clones are below the rings. Don't forget Tokai uses 50's style tall rings so they may not look like you're used to.

Re: What Model Love rock?

Photos would help. There may be a model number written in the pickup cavities.

Re: Toggle switch for LS150 2005

That part will be a direct replacement but it will suffer the same fate eventually. Use part# SW-210-N and you'll never have problems again. It cost more but it's worth it.

First and foremost, have you tried tweaking the height of the current pickups? I find it a bit odd that someone would describe the JB/Jazz combo as lacking in those areas you mentioned, and sometimes people are too quick to start ripping things out when a few turns of a screwdriver might get the job...

The only high end models back then were the LS200 and LS320. Below that was the quilt top model (LS85Q?). Best way to check - take the pickups out and see if the middle joint and grain lines in the cavity line up with the middle joint and grain lines on the top. If not => veneer => LS70F. I'm bettin...

Bridge posts, tailpiece alignment, neck joint, electronics cavity, black plates - all point to Korean-made. It's not a Tokai headstock. The original tuners were not the Kluson style. The holes are in the wrong place, there's no hole in the right place, and the residue profile is all wrong. Looks lik...

The number simply reflects list price in 000s of Yen, not a special order. As such older models with lower numbers can have higher specs than you might think.

An LS320 from 1999 for example would have Honduras mahogany, Brazilian rosewood and Seymour Duncan pickups.

I don't know what the market is like in your country but in UK £ that comes to about 400 which is a little high but not completely unreasonable.

I would be a little concerned about the ignorance/deception in the ad though, so don't buy it without viewing it first!
