Very cool websites; thanks. Interesting pickups as well. I just dunno about spending more than twice the amount. Not that I ain't worth it  , but that's a lot of beer   .

I replaced the tuners on my Silver Star with the Schaller 'look-alikes' from All Parts. You can get the Gotoh tuners that will match yours from anyone like All Parts, Stewart MacDonald, etc. They'll fit right, and be a nice tune. Here are the Kluson-types from Stewart MacDonald; http://www.stewmac.c...

Arthur, thank you for the very cool link. I debated potting them myself, and got worried that if I screwed them up I' d should have an emergency transplant donor handy. Then the age-old ' which replacements? ' worry added to the mix. The Gibson dealer right now has the '57 Classic PU's for quite a b...

Anyone try Gibson '57 Classic PU's in their Love Rock?

Actually, I have one Love Rock and one Reborn. I am thinking of trying the Gibson PU's in either guitar. My local Gibson dealer has a decent sale on the PU's right now, so it is tempting. Both of my Tokai's have microphonic pickups, so I want something that will sound good and not squeal. Any hints,...

Well, being in Canada, I didn't know if anyone would know, say, Avril Levigne. But now my daughter listens to the strangest 'music'. When I took her to festivals I played at, she seemed to like it. And she will listen to some Beatles CDs. But the NKOTB was a band I knew everyone would relate to havi...

Just be careful, Lee (and others)!

..... I have a LR with PU's that squeal like a little girl at a NKOTB concert . Guess what? Seth Lover PU's and the Antiquities squeal as well . A quick call to Seymour confirms that the squeal adds to the character :o. Seymour will do anything for like an extra $10 (switch from two-cond...

From my limited experience, the Reborns I went through, and the one I kept, played just as well as any Love Rock I went through/kept. The Reborn weighed a lot more, however. The Reborn top was plain, but a really pretty cherry-burst. The other weird part was all the Love Rocks I went through had mic...

Well, you know I do have as many guitars as I do to compensate for having a very small penis . As for the Love Rock/Reborn issue, here's my 2?. 1) The Reborn I kept (as well as all others I have seen to date) has a very plain top, but still a stunning cherry-burst finish. The 'best' Love Rock ...

Figure out what tone you are after first . Do you play with a lot of processing? I have gone through a half-dozen Reborn/Love Rock guitars, and all but one had microphonic pickups. Every other one had to have the pickups potted or replaced. Now, that takes into account I play 'Classic' R&R with a Ma...

I don't like changing parts just because I have 'Monkey-itis', but the Silver Star I got need a lot work, which is why I only paid $300 for it. The pegs were really sloppy, and had to be changed. Everything else I could have left, but maybe a little Monkey-itis crept in . Changing the bridge m...

Now I feel less guilty, and almost inadequate . 1) 1978 Les Paul Reborn; plain cherry-burst (dead stock). 2) 1990 Love Rock; drop-dead honey burst w/nickel hardware (not very stock). 3) 1999 Love Rock; nice flame-top (stock). 4) 1999 Love Rock; Gold Top (stock for now) 5) 1980 Silver Star (so ...

Well, how do I get a Gotoh one? It took me a while to dig up a Fender one. For now I just have a thin maple shim in there. Works just fine for now, so I may leave it. I've done enough to this guitar for now that being stock is no longer a concern. In a nutshell, here is what I've done to make this S...

Silver Star 'Micro-Tilt'?

OK; it's a long shot, but what the hey. Who knows where where I can get the micro-tilt plate for a Silver Star? An old Fender one is way to big, and short of fabricating my own (not as hard as it sounds, but I'm lazy), I am at a loss. Anyone?

Too late. I hate having even 2? available on my Visa, so the damage is done. The fellow at All Parts swears it'll drop in real tickety-freakin'-boo like. It had better. They also have the 70's looking Schaller pegs, but with the crazy 'S' logo'. I'll see if I can swap pegs, and resuse the Tokai cove...

Silver Star hardware question

I am this close to ordering a new tremolo bridge for my Silver Star, and then a crazy fear hit me. While browsing eBay (please forgive me, Lord) I noticed a few MIJ Strat bridges for auction, and the warning that the six mounting holes won't line up with Yankee-Doodle Strats :o! I never stopped to c...
