I have an ast50 exactly as you descibe. mine has a made in japan printed at the base of the neck under the laquer. no serial numbers though. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Mine came with scratchplate fitted, although I could have taken one without it fitted, i didnt fancy someone else tapping screws in at IE shopassistant so opted for fitted one from factory

Serial No:0205245 Its Great, can't play but can't put it down either, tossed the AST50 aside. What amp do you use?

Taint neccesarily so, I am imformed my Tokai is an AST 50 made in japan, no serial number on it though. I just bought a Korean Tokai Love rock, kept it for 2 days then swapped it for a japan made Love ...
