Actually on new stuff they're pretty good. A new SG60 is priced at ?529, and I've not seen them for less than 599 before. It's worth a visit, but they used to have more (new) Tokais than they've got a ...

Saw an '84 Goldstar at Wembley guitar centre for just under ?500!! It's been seriously monkeyed with. Scratch plate and body routed (badly) to accept a humbucker at the bridge. One tone control remove ...

I reckon you should give the vz rocks a miss as you won'y get the vintage tone you crave from these. Use something more vintage accurate, I don't know about the Kinmans, but for your rock/metal sounds ...

Eigil,
Just my two pennies, but more output won't give you better clarity.
If that's what you're really after then go for weaker pickups. The hotter they're wound the more mids you get. The Vz rocks ...

Tokaigeezer.I have a set of vintage + (with a blues in the bridge). I prefer the V+ to the blues as they are much less mid rangy, but still quite hot. You get a really decent quack in the in neck midd ...

How does bubblegum pink compare with Shell pink? I'm guessing they're similar in all but name? By the way good choice with the VZs. I've got a set. Vintage Hot, Vintage Hot + Blues. They rock!

Candy Apple red is metallic. There's a great site with tonnes of info on custom colours if you're interested. www.provide.net/~cfh/fenderc.html is the link.

Cheers for the reply. Just out of interest, if yours wasn't dakota red, then what else would it be? Given that any decent approximation of fiesta red would be at least a touch on the pastel side be it ...

I have finished one or two flamed maple necks and some veneers and they are quite difficult because the open grained part (the darker stripes) of the flame absorbs much more lacquer than the pale more ...

Anyone ever see a shell pink springy? The one in question smells a bit fishy to me (oh there's kind of a pun there too).
Body radiusing is a bit too square, so I suspect it's just some springy parts ...

I notice a few Van Zandt references here and I wanted to get some feedback as I have a set of these. I've got 2 vintage+ (neck and middle) and a blues in the bridge. As they are my first brush with af ...

Don't be too jealous, it's pretty f**ked and needs plenty of work to make it even playable. I was thinking about just using it for parts, but 'Oi loiks a challenge'

Ha ha, the beauty of nitrocellulose. Oh yes! The stuff takes so long to properly cure that wet fingerprints just flow out without any buffing, sanding or wiping.
My new neck is beautiful once ...
