Just another data point:
I swapped the mags in my Screamin' 82s. They had black ceramic magnets (which are now on my fridge - hold the mail there very well).

(I replaced them with AlNiCo IV ones ...

i've never been able to get past a natural strat w/ a maple neck, tele for sure but not a strat( i guess i'm shallow that way)
