No idea, now that you mention it. It's one of those features that seems to come and go. My LS200 from '01 doesn't have it either.

I pulled the PU there is nothing written behind them. I pulled one of the tuners and dabbed a qtip with acetone and nothing came of. So, it is defiantly a Poly finish. So, I would say you are right ...

I wonder if mine is a HLS-165S???

With the multi-piece back and no fret edge binding I doubt it. I think yours is most likely an LS95S that has had a professional electronics upgrade. Look ...

Are those Orange Drop caps in my guitar? and if so did they put those in the LS-95S?

Yep, orange drop caps and CTS pots too. Might be worth checking the switch and jack socket to see if they're sw ...

I agree the jack looks factory. A refinish would destroy the flame veneer.

I also agree that it's a '92 LS80 but I have no idea what's going on with the 103. Again, a refinish would have destroyed ...

It's fair to say that Gibson's recent technical innovations have been a mixed bag at best. One thing they absolutely nailed (IMO) is the new speed knob design with the knurled edges.

Looks-wise the ...

I think diamond knew the answer to that already. He was referring to the fact that weight relief is a modern phenomenon and that the Les Paul in its golden age never had it, or n ...

It's unusual but not unprecedented. My LS model has a two piece join in that area but it's only visible in the neck pickup cavity.

MIJ LS70F. Page 10 of the '99 catalogue. Knobs and truss rod cover are not original. What's going on with the headstock? Is it an overlay?
