Pots aka Potentiometers - A couple of interesting reads

I'm not up to speed on the whole volume pot/tone pot thing & was digging around; located a couple of interesting articles on pots. Pots are something that I typically don't think about much but the recent installation of the Dry Zs in my Bacchus BLP-FM Relic got me more interested. The reason being ...

Re: Bacchus BLP-FM Relic Looks Like the Rev's 'Pearly Gates'

Finally got the 1981 Dry Z matched set installed in the 2011 Bacchus BLP-STD FM Relic. I forgot how clean (dry) & articulate the Dry Z is & also when you turn it up it gets mean & dirty too. :D These are so different than the SDs; I will need to leave the Zs in for some time to evaluate how well the...

Re: Who made this guitar/factory wise ???

don't know but the tenon & the pup routes look very Tokai; I'll guess made by Tokai, early 1980s

Re: Bacchus BLP-FM Relic Looks Like the Rev's 'Pearly Gates'

This awesome Bacchus Classic Series BLP-FM Relic came to me nearly two years ago with Seymour Duncan pickups which I am not a fan of. Recently I have been transitioning several LP type guitars that came to me without the original pickups, with pickups more to my preference. So, after nearly two year...

isn't this the perfect opportunity to buy another guitar :D
I was thinking the exact same thing

I see from the last post that 'BCR Greg' is getting the guitar for the 'fill' job.

Word on the street he is pretty good at repairing broken heads stocks too :)

Re: 1981 LS-50 Potentiometer PCB? Knobs high off body

I believe the A in 15A represents 'audio taper' which I prefer over 'linear taper' pots If the pot was stamped with something like 15B, I believe the B would represent the 'linear taper' type pot I agree as far as the NOBLE pots; I never had a single issue with any of them & that is from dozens of g...

Re: 1981 LS-50 Potentiometer PCB? Knobs high off body

original pots for your 1981 LS should be stamped NOBLE 15A500K & a four digit date code, all stamped on the side of the can. These are pretty much the same pots used in the early Bacchus stuff 8) from the mid/late 1990s Not sure why anyone would want to replace some damn good NOBLE pots with CTS but...

Re: Does changing pickups lower the value of a tokai?

Does changing pickups lower the value of a tokai? Generally I would answer no to that question. Many owners replace pickups & pots on their MIJs, Tokai included. If value were lowered by such an alteration it would be negligible at best; if at all. It's not like a Tokai LS is a late 1950s Gibson Les...

Re: Help getting information about my new ES100

(1) serial number is six digits, not the typical Tokai seven digit serial number (2) serial number font is not the typical font used by Tokai (3) bridge posts are way too thick aka not the typical much more narrow bride post seen on the typical MIJ Tokai My guess would be you may have posted photos ...

Re: The Tokai Forum REAPPEARS

The TF has once again been high jacked by some nefarious means. There were no posts from the 14th of the month until today. I must say, the MO of the most recent Tokai Forum 'disappearance' was basically the same as the last: the forum would not allow a log-in for one to two days, and then there was...

Re: "Best" Tokai LP Style Recommendation - Tokyo visit

Hell You are Toykyo !!! I have 6 Tokai's myself so its not like i don't hold them in high esteem but..........unless your heart is set on Tokai, i'd look for some of the other makes as well. Bacchus, Crews, Navigator, Greco, Burny... the world is your oyster. I'm very envious of your visit. Enjoy y...
