Hi Ian, Thanks for the reply. The Tokai's that I understood were from 1984/5 had the sort of squared off headstock no? The pickups are a Semour Duncan JB at the neck, tappable via the tone pot, just roll the other coil in and out gradually and a SD 1/4 lb at the bridge to even out the volume of them...

Great Amps

Hi, I just bought the new 60 watt version with the neodog speakers. It sounds awesome to my mind. I'm British and aging, I had a bunch of old MArshalls and AC30's back in the late 70's early 80's when they were cheap and always loved the sound. This amp totally nails those sounds and all from 1 amp!...

MIJ

Hi again, I agree about the Fender MIJ stuff. I have an ash body, maple neck strat MIJ, bought about 8 years ago, great guitar. I had a couple over the years and with the possible exception of the pickups they are just as good as US made. I seem to be turning into an MIJ guitar freak, help is there ...

Hi, I currently own an '82 tele copy which is awesome, ash body and maple neck, plays like a dream. I used to have a Strat copy which I regret selling top this day. A friend of mine had the love rock, les paul which was an excellent guitar. I have tried out several Gibson's but would rather get a To...

Hi Ian, Thanks for the reply, the decal looks like a silver couloured 7okai, I would post a photo if I knew how to do it!!!! I remember the early 80's when it seemed that the UK was awash with these things, wish I'd bought some more, did have a Strat which fooloshly I sold, along with 2 Fenders and ...

Hey Russ, I'm a Brit living in Nashville where guitar shops have to be seen to be believed!!! Where do you live? My experience with Tokai and Jap guitars in general has been nothing but good, being 42 I think a Strat should look as your new one does, ie 70's style. I have tried new Les Pauls and wou...

Tokai Strat

Well only you can decide if it was a good buy, it was good bye to $369!! If you're in the UK that's about ?200. I bought a tokai tele of similar vintage many years ago for about the same, I am more than happy, so you should be OK. I have also bought 2 Fender Japan Strats over the years, if you ask m...

Tokai tele 1982?????

Hi I have an Ash bodied maple neck Tokai tele with a serial number of 014080. It has a Tokai logo on the Fender shaped headstock which isn't exactly a copy of the Fender spaghetti style but close, it also says breezysound. Anyone have any idea when it would have been made? I got it 6 years ago, used...
