That is cool how there is a serial number inked on the neck, but not on the neck plate. How long did they do that? My 1979 ST100 is a one off I believe. It has nickel hardware, but it has the neck stamp "100" and I have the registration card with model number and serial number. The neck plate with t...

Hi all. I got the guitar today and it's as beautiful as I expected. The V neck is awesome! As for the comparison to the TE80 I recently got, it does sound a little different. Assuming it's the 1meg pots. I noticed at full volume and the tone pot opened up that the neck pickup is brighter than the TE...

WTB Lefty Tele Breezy sound

Hi all, A friend of mine that is a professional Irish/bluegrass/newgrass acoustic guitarist is looking for a Tele as his only electric. He played my 1981 ST100 unplugged over Thanksgiving and was really impressed by the tone and sustain that it has. If anyone has a lefty Breezy they would part with,...

Yes felixcatus, 250k on the TE80. I have no idea what the Tokai pickups are. The bridge is marked TE A on the TE80. The neck pickup is unmarked. Haven't seen the p'ups in the TE120 yet. Here is a pic from the TE80. http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w518/visualvoyage/1979%20Tokai%20TE80%20Breezysou...

Looked like there were two grains of rice in the bridge cavity. No way I was gonna remove them and risk losing the mojo. LOL

So I just got around to taking it apart. The neck is stamped TE80 and the neck pocket is stamped TE80 in red ink. http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w518/visualvoyage/1979%20Tokai%20TE80%20Breezysound/IMG_8955_zpsdd4c5f95.jpg The codes match on the body and neck. 12=7GSA & 12=7A. http://i1079.photo...

suki, I have never been either. Mainly a Strat guy and lately Les Pauls (Tokais), but the 1979 TE80 is a beast. Has an amazing Stevie Ray Vaughan blues tone IMHO. Was very surprised, but it was my first Tokai Tele. Heck they could all be like that. Felixcatus, I don't have it in hand, but Cliff took...

Totally agree Udonitron after playing the TE80. What an amazing rage of tones! Glad you pointed it out to Clif, otherwise I may have never ended up with it. When you google TE120 you only see a handful of examples, and the grain pattern on this one really stands out. Here are some pics from Japanese...

Thanks guys. I've had a few Teles tho I was never much impressed and prefer a Les Paul typically, but that 1979 TE80 with the two piece alder body made a believer outta me. 😃
