Does changing pickups lower the value of a tokai?

I have an LS135 with the UK headstock. its a lovely guitar but the pickups and/or pots are are not the best. when turning the tone pot below 5 everything starts to muddy up and becomes awful by 3. They dont compare to the Gibson LP Standard 50's(2019) , which is still very usable down at 2 or 3 on t...

Line 6 X3 Live Floor Pod & 200w stage monitor speaker(FB

Line 6 Pod x3 live, pretty much as new condition, never gigged. Lived in my room for the past 5 years. X3 live is a multi effects interface for an electric guitar. Does a very good job at modelling a lot of classic amps, pedals, effects. Also allows things like playing through two different types of...

Dating my tokai LS 160

i bought a tokai LS 160 from these forums in 2010. Owner said its a 1009 model, and i dont doubt him at all, but i cant date it based on what is detailed on this site. The bottom of the back of the headstock says "made in japan", stamped on in ink. The top of the back of the headstock has the serial...

il vote for the 2009 tokai LS160. Its not 100% accurate to an R9/R9, but im sure its 95% there. only differences are things purists would care about ( binding over edge of frets ). While looking for an LP i tried a LOT of guitars. firstly I tried the "original" thing, the LP standard. Played 5 of 6 ...

Pickups still microphonic in LS160 despite being potted

I got a 2009 Tokai LS 160. Awesome guitar, great fit and finish, but at higher gains it was going microphonic. I brought it in to have pickups repotted, by a very very very reputable luthier in the area, so i am not questioning if he did the job or not. But when practicing a few days ago, plugged in...

If only you had posted this 2 weeks ago!, well maby not, as my decision would have been much more difficult.

Question: I cannot see any screw holes for the pickguard. are they there or does this come without a pickguard as standard?

I agree that the quality control is not as comprehensive as i hoped right off. My LS 135(LS 160 whatever you want to call it) has paint on the binding in the cutaway. The only way to fix that is to scrap it off, which is something i would never dare attempt. It doesn't bother me too much, but id sti...

Its an LS 135. original pickups. Each pickup seems to have the heavy braided wire, and two black wires.

I think i figured out the issue by examining diagrams, and a bit of guesswork. both tonepots are working now. Hopefully i done it correctly.

Thanks for the help!
