No ebony board there. Below a board and MOP inlays on an EG58-100 from early 1982. Note that there is no volute on that model. The OP's guitar has a volute, no ebony board, no waffleback tuners, and no Groove pickups that would be on a 1982 EC58-100. Lots of confusion for these 1982 customs. You se...

Yes, I'm sure about that. April 1982 onwards changed. I have the catalogs, read Japanese, and owned a 1982 EC58-100. All the custom guitars in the Mint Collection Catalog said "Super Real" on the truss rod covers. I don't doubt that's what the catalog's say, but it's also pretty common knowledge th...

That would be a EC68-50 model. The EC58-100 model is quite different and has a mahogany top. The Super Real truss rod cover is a bit misleading since in previous years they used it on the EC-1000 model. Good news is that they are all pretty good guitars in 1982 IMO. Are you sure about that? My Supe...

http://www.matsumoku.org/models/serial_no.html Looks like it's a 1983. Unfortunately the aria site doesn't have a catalog on file for that year and all the other ones simply state rosewood as the only option. I wouldn't really worry about it though. They were probably pumping out a ton of guitars at...

Re: FGN branded guitars

I have seen a few of these pop up every now and the, and I am curious if anyone here has had any experience with them. I know Fujigen, but I dont know how much QC they put behind this brand, so I wanted to know if anyone can vouch for their quality or lack thereof Don't know a ton about them but fr...

I haven't really been following them for a while. But it seems to me you'll see them average out at about 1 or 2 every 3 to 6 months. It really depends though. There are stretches where there aren't any and then you'll see like 4 of them in a few weeks. I can't help you with shipping and taxes....th...

Yeah here it is... http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh23/doublestrokeroll/DSC03959.jpg They come up every so often on yahoo japan auctions. Mostly the mint collection....obviously cause they were made for many more years.....but even the super reals come up now and again. And with the SS500 I don'...

Re: SS500 (SG Special) owners?

Anyone got experience with an early '80s SS500, the SG Special model with P90s? How's the neck on these things and are they finished in nitro lacquer? I am looking for a quality SG with P90s and used to own a Gibson SG Classic but the neck on that one was just too big... Yeah I've got a 1980 super ...

I was going to say the super real truss rod cover on an 84 seems weird. My late 81 flower pot has one but technically that is a super real.

Personally I'd get the Orville....never heard of the other one. And the orville is not Korean, it's MIJ. Also not a fan of 3 PU les pauls. Having said that, that seems really expensive for an orville. I see standard orvilles on Rinkya (yahoo japan) for like half that. Even with tax and shipping I do...
