Sound advice

Sound advice and I have to admit the passion you guys have for all things Tokai has rubbed off on me. Got some new strings today so I will give it another play. I have cleaned the neck today ( it was manky) and going to ad some pics to photobucket of neck without strings. I think the neck is the bes...

Markings in pickup cavity (Springy v Goldstar)

:) Yup markings on mine are in the pickup cavity. So possibly late Springy. The jury is still out.... I have not decided as yet on replacing the tuners. I think I paid quite a bit for the Schallers about 20yrs ago but as you say it probably looks better with the original Kluson type ones. It also dep...

Colour Codes.

Thanks for noting the colour codes - mine has MR (Metallic Red) which is a standard on the Golstar range. Any idea what the Z after the Mr stands for. You can view the full sets of pics at www.photobucket.com My user name is same as here Vanzep. So it seems now to point to it being an 84 Goldstart T...

Last night I dreamt of lots of Red Tokais' (only joking)

Thanks guys and of course you are right - its just to my untrained eye they all start to look the same after a while... I must admit that 1980 does seem a bit of stretch in so much that the guitar was in mint condition when i bought it 85 and most likey was only a year or two old. I guess we can onl...

Springy ST-50 versus Goldstar TST-55

Just when I though it was sorted and it was seeming like we were veering towards it being a Goldstar TST-55 I saw the identical model in every way(japanguitar.co.uk) and LO serial number as well. It was fully marked as 1980 Springy Sound ST-50 in Candy Apple Red the exact same colour as the one I ha...

Missing decals

Your right - but I am not going to try and put any decals on myself-I will leave that to the professionals like yourself - I once tried respraying the bumper on my car and it was a disaster. Just wanted to say a big thanks to you all for your help in identifying the model of Tokai :o Now i must find...

Kluson Tuners

No redrilling was necessary and the original bushes are still in place so should be easy to rectify. I must admit to being a bit  about it - my only excuse is that i was in my teens.... So it seems to be the genuine article and a Goldstar TST55. I guess you cant tell from the photos but there ...

Pictures of marking on neck above truss rod adjust

I have taken the neck off and have updated onto to photobucket and facebox - there are markings which are the same as on the pickup recess. Pickup recess markings in top left hand corner are 6=1 and the marking on the face of the neck above the truss rod are 6=11.Plus there is even some red paint on...

I have photos listed on photobucket and facebook so you can view them. I looked at one of the previous postings from earlier today and it looks the same as Goldstar TST-55 but as I say with no logo or stickers and i can definatley say they have not been removed as the finish on the headstock is fact...

Thanks-more info

Hi stratman, Will try again. Here is some further info in the meantime - Serial no. is L03552. The weird thing is that there is no logo or model info on the headstock. The only reason I know it is is a Tokai is that i do remember when I bought it the guy in the shop said that they were shipped out f...

Hello from sunny Edinburgh-Tokai Strat 1985 or older.

:D Believe it or not the sun is shinning and I have dusted down the old guitar. I was considering taking up playing the guitar again after a period of abstinance..as I mentioned the sun is shinning which does not happen too often in Edinburgh so maybe I have heat stroke..lol I bought my Tokai in 198...
