Tokais and Squier JV for sale on ebay

I've decided to part with some of my guitar collection - 1*tokai breezysound (Custom Tele) and 1*tokai springy sound (57 reissue) as well as a Squier JV 62 Strat in white. Links to the breezysound is: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2519686971 and you can find the others from th...

new tokai models

These guitars were announced at the NAMM show in Nashville; here's the link to the page on the Tokai site: http://www2.wbs.ne.jp/~tokai/news.htm The model numbers usually make it apparent what the price is going to be in Japanese Yen but these one's don't seem to follow that line. The guy running UK...

final prospec v tokai

Not necessarily so: I've got a Springy Sound with Tokai saddles (and Tokai stampled on the machine heads); I've got a breezysound with 'Deluxe' machine heads and final prospec on the bridge. From what I remember, the springy sound is a 1979 guitar and the breezysound is a 1980 or 1981 model (both ca...

gold top love rock

It sounds like it's a LS-60 as it's got chrome covered humbuckers. The only other model with a gold top, based upon the 2001 catalogue, is the LS-75S which has P-90 style pick-ups.

t-shirt idea

I like the overall design of it Ned but I don't think the punchline really fits in. I think one of Tokai's strengths when they advertised in the past was brevity and simplicity. Keep the top line, keep the picture and move the 'Tokai' logo to the bottom instead of the 'Rock with Tokai.' If you feel ...

Tokai tolex style cases

I'm trying to find out if the case that came with my Tokai breezysound is actually a Tokai 'tolex' case. The case looks like the familiar Fender tolex from the outside, the inside is yellow/orange (more yellow really), it has a rectangular compartment for bits and pieces. The neck of the guitar does...

I can't really nail the model for you but I don't think it's a 65. It looks from the photo of the cavity that it says S-85, L. and then S-65 (the L. is out of line with the S-65). I've just had a look at the mid-80s catalogues on the registry and the ALS models (US market) go from ALS60 to ALS80, co...

Is it my imagination or has time stood still for the Tokai UK website? Guitarist has reviewed new models which apparently don't exist according to the website. Their latest news concerns an ES model that is to be launched in April 2001 - I can't wait that long. Has anyone ever had an email replied t...

I think I've had a gripe about dealer pricing in the UK before. The difference in rrp price between a ls-65 and ls-70 is Yen 5,000. This is about ?30. The dealers though feel it justified to accelerate this price difference by ?150 when the guitars land in the UK. Therefore the ls-65 is marked up at...

Can't believe I'm getting into this...Japanese language is very syllabised and there isn't any differentiation between pronunciation - ie in english we could have the words 'tonight' and 'tone' and the 'to' sounds are quite different. In Japanese, this isn't so. Anyway, It's 'to' as in toe-nail & 'k...

There is another strand on the forum where some info was given regarding the links. I understand that Fernandes guitars were made at the same factory as Tokais at some point - probably late 70's and early 80's. That's not the case anymore though. Burny was Fernandes' brand for the Japanese market an...

It's all getting highly confusing....I don't think the guy in San Francisco is not necessarily misleading anyone although he should be doing more research on this site as he refers to it in every entry for his sales. I bought several guitars when I was based in Japan at the start of the 90s - Tokais...

Martin, older tokai st models had 'Tokai' stamped on the bridge saddles and on the tuners. This was the case with the Les Paul Reborn models as well. I don't know when they changed it to final prospec/deluxe - probably '81 or '82. The Beach boys' gear looks to be accurately described as far as I can...

The seller doesn't seem to be that familiar with his gear - don't think it's rocket science to find out if the thing's got tubes or not. It might be practical for shipping purposes if he found out. Nice looking amp though.

I've got the same model from 1986 (a Goldstar Sound), it's a TST-55, the sticker has managed to stay in place after all these years. It was the first 'quality' electric guitar I bought. I can't be sure but I've got a figure of ?239.00 in my head as the price I paid at the time. That guitar on ebay s...
