Orvilles in my experience are great guitars. have a 93 reissue black beauty myself. In either case, 600 dollars was a great price. Dont sweat it. If u enjoy the guitar, great. If not (unlikely, lol) sell it later. The good thing about MIJ's is they dont depreciate. The longer u have it they more it ...

For the money, those are very nice amps Im sure. But if u are willing to spend a bit more, go on ebay and buy a nice Reverend amp. They quit making them about a year ago, but most (including myself) think the sound rivals that of a marshall. Mine is a 20/60 Kingsnake, with a UK/US/LO-FI schizo knob....

My obg's serial # is 3 1246. A 93 model. Strange thing is, I had the holes for the pots bored out so i could upgrade the hardware to a RS guitarworks kit. Looking at the fresh wood, the top appears to be mahogany. It is the standard "black beauty" model, gold hardware, fret binding, long neck tenon,...

Very nice list. I have had a chance to play both a greco and my ObG LPC. Funny story, I went to Nashville recently to check out Gibsons proshop...and I didnt find one single LP in the store (that includes the custom shop models) that I would trade my ObG for. (based on quality, not monitary value, i...

Im sure the new epi elites are nice guitars. However, most players who are into the MIJ craze prefer age. Hence u will hear a lot of love for an old tokai or greco, less so for an Orville because of the 15 to 20 year difference in age for the most part. But if u find a Jap Epi u like jump on it. Cer...

Would the serial # hold a clue as to the model? I have seen other ObG LPC's that have the maple top. And they all seem to have a different serial than Canada's. Most others start with a G or other letter. Whereas this mohagany top simply has a 5 digit code like so (X XXXX). Would any maple tops have...

Actually, I have seen good results with 1 or 2 coats of amber shaded laquer to get the effect u want. It is usually used as a clear coat on top of refinished guitars to fake some age. It works just as well on pickguards. And since its laquer, the color will darken further over time and exposure to U...
