I've had great luck with Rio Grande... especially the BBQ Bucker and Genuine Texas!

Here's a link to my 85 LS60... you can use the pics to compare them to yours. You can see a definitive line where the veneer joins the maple cap. Sometimes it's hard to see. Your 83 may indeed be solid.

Something to ponder... Too much oil on any fret board (Ebony or Rosewood) will cause the board to swell and may possibly "pop" a few frets. An overly dry fret board will cause the wood to shrink and cause the fret tangs to push out. It may also cause the binding to dislodge or crack if the ends of y...

Are the pup covers and tailpiece aluminum on these? They appear to be chrome plated and the tailpiece is not lite enough to be aluminum...

My 85 LS60 ... PICS!

Practically mint ... I just finished a fret leveling and polish when I took these shots. It's really an incredible piece! Thanks for all the info you guys provided or I would have never purchased it! Beautiful board! http://www.deanguitars.com/userpics/lib5/IMG_03231.jpg http://www.deanguitars.com/u...

Totally agree on the Gold hardware! It wears off way too quickly and then looks like crap. It just doesn't "age" like the nickel.

So... Does anyone know what the standard issue nuts were made of?

It appears that the newer Korean models are plastic.

Nut

Does anyone know what the 81-85 LS60 nuts are made of? ... Insert joke here!

Seriously... The one on my 85 appears to be bone or something of a similar consistency. I can't tell for sure if it's been replaced or not. Did they change the material over the years?

thanks!
